But, after awhile... Ever been installing a half dozen diskettes, say, Beneath a Steel Sky, half way through, you got suddenly the urge to check, what the hell is the directory I've choosen to install BASS, do I abort or do I wait until it all finishes, then, you suddenly recall, but I'm running on a multitask system, OS/2 indeed, Ctl-Esc, you open a window underneath, DIR, satisfies the urge to check and see that the files are appeareing while the disk still churns on. Or, ever cursed those <expletive> protected games which every time ask you to match picture with page of the manual, and your children mixed up the manuals of TIE with DOTT with Sam'n Max. With OS/2, it becomes very minor annoyance. Suppose, a few years ago you were very pleased with Railroad Tycoon. Now you see RRT "Deluxe" available on CD, you think, I get the CD, there shouldn't be anymore the game protection, but to your horror you discover it ask the same questions about the same locomotive names. No trouble. Alt-Home (this is OS/2's control which windows the DOS game session), with the mouse paste the locomotives pictures into your favorite drawing program, save it, et voila, every time it asks the same silly names, call up on line your pictures . Or, suppose you're playing one of the most famous adventure game. You come across puzzles and hints. Or you come across a half piece of a map which you can't put into your game's personna pocxket. Again, if suddenly you recall that despite it is full-screen, that underneath OS/2 is still running, Alt-Home and Ctl-Esc switches back to the desktop, call up the drawing notebook, mouse click and paste the puzzle and map. Sometimes further in the game, you find the other half-piece of the map, paste it and move it next to the previous one, you may even print it out full colour on the Deskjet 550C. Avoid at all cost multitasking, otherwise you'd be spoiled, or make it too easy gaming :-) (Of course it's not always rosy, some DOS games would absolutely refuse running with OS/2). Vincent
