I am surprised! I have been running Win95 preview program release too. But all I could squeeze out of my DOS session is 611K free memory. Here are the mem /c listing : Name Total Conventional Upper Memory -------- ---------------- ---------------- ---------------- SYSTEM 18,656 (18K) 10,336 (10K) 8,320 (8K) HIMEM 1,168 (1K) 1,168 (1K) 0 (0K) EMM386 4,320 (4K) 4,320 (4K) 0 (0K) WIN 3,792 (4K) 3,792 (4K) 0 (0K) vmm32 58,592 (57K) 880 (1K) 57,712 (56K) COMMAND 8,416 (8K) 8,416 (8K) 0 (0K) SLCD 23,888 (23K) 0 (0K) 23,888 (23K) CMD640X 23,056 (23K) 0 (0K) 23,056 (23K) SETVER 704 (1K) 0 (0K) 704 (1K) ANSI 4,320 (4K) 0 (0K) 4,320 (4K) IFSHLP 2,864 (3K) 0 (0K) 2,864 (3K) DOSKEY 4,688 (5K) 0 (0K) 4,688 (5K) Free 625,984 (611K) 625,984 (611K) 0 (0K) As you can see, the "WIN", "vmm32", "COMMAND" driver has taken out huge chunks of my memory. I would very much like to get rid of them if possible. What is your secret to get that much memory? The other driver I would like to remove is the CMD640X driver. Without this real mode driver (for disk controller) installed, Win95 complained that the disk controller has both 32-bits and 16-bits devices attached and refused to run in "normal" mode. The disk controller I have is a CMD CSA-6400E. Has anyone encountered this problem before? Is this a bug in Win95 or I am plain stuck until I changed my disk controller? -- Email : hkc...@hkchan.pc.my
