Linksys Wireless Access Point with Linux Firewall

Greetings,

We have just purchases a Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless Accesspoint. I have
been having trouble getting the darned thing working with my already in
place linux firewall/router (kernel 2.4.18.7x). I continue to get
martian packets, and the wireless proves to be rather fickle.

Here is an example of what my network looks like:

Internet

   | ---- >  Linux Firewall ------> Linksys (4-port switch)

			         5 port HUB <----------------|

					Roommates connect here

I have a static IP address, and I think that possible I may have
set up my Linux firewall incorrectly as well. I used the line

iptables -A POSTROUTING -t nat -o $EXTIF -j MASQUERADE

I remember reading somewhere that I shouldn't use that line
if I have a static IP, I should do NAT instead.

I am not sure if this enough info, but I would be interested in talking
with someone who has the same setup (or similiar). I kinda assumed the
IT responisiblities in the house, and I have a whole bunch of pissed off
roomates right now. Some of my questions are:

Should I be using RIP, since I kinda have two routers in the domain?
Is this even the best setup for the products I have?

I would also like the wireless people to be on a different subnet, while
the people connecting to the HUB are on a separate subnet.

I will provide more information if needed if I can just get some
feedback.

Thanks in advance.
