Please be specific: describe exactly what happens, and quote verbatim any error message you get. -- Ken Blake Please reply to the newsgroup

It's really strange that cache is used at all. Defragmentation is NOT supposed to go through cache. Do you have any third-party software (like antivirus) running? The are no error messages. What happens is that the system cache during a d drive defrag or writing large files to d drive, the system cache increases at the rat in which i am copying information, during a defrag it increases at over 1 Mg per second - the it hits around 530Mgs and does not go any higher (max's out) It is at this time that the computer's performance drops and just moving the mouse around the screen is quite impossible. There is no memory left Thanks Justin "Ken Blake" <kbl...@this.is.an.invalid.domain.com> wrote in message news:ujlic3s17qbg3a@corp.supernews.com... > Justin Matthews wrote: > > I have 2 partitions > > > > C drive and D drive > > > > C is NTFS > > D is FAT32 > > > > During a defragment of D drive, my system cache max's out my > memory > > and the computer looses all performance and i can't complete > > defragment - it get's to about 2% before my system cache max's > out. > > > > Note: I have 650 mgs RAM - plenty > > > > Can someone help > > > What does "my system cache max's out my memory" mean? No i don't. I think it is strange also that it only goes through the cache on my fat32 partition and not on my ntfs partition Justin "Alexander Grigoriev" <al...@earthlink.net> wrote in message news:e#0JWdMMCHA.2088@tkmsftngp11... > It's really strange that cache is used at all.
