Moze komus kiedys sie przyda.... "Connecting to OLAP Analysis Services from .NET and generally Microsoft Windows platform is very easy, because we can embedd ADO MD ActiveX Controls without any effort. Our goal was to access SQL Server 2000 OLAP server through J2EE technology what turned out into very interesting task, because there are no special connectors for Java applications which handle MDX queries and cubes as results (JDBC drivers implements only standard JDBC API which is strongly SQL-related). After some research we have found that a nice level of interoperatability may be obtained by using XMLA (XML for Analysis) which is based on such platform-independent standards like SOAP and webservices. We had to download and install Microsoft XML for Analysis 1.1 SDK which contains ISAPI extensions for SQL Server - they can be run by IIS server and share Analysis Services data through SOAP-based webservice. On J2EE side we have chosen JPivot tag library which handles XMLA datasources and provides some nice GUI features like pivot tables and charts (thanks to jfreechart library). Simple spike solution was implemented as JSP application and deployed on Tomcat servlet container. Therefore very flexible solution from architectural point of view was introduced and it was proven that OLAP data from Analysis Services may be served in a very universal way. The detailed description of XMLA SDK installation process can be found here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnsql2k/html/implementxap.asp?frame=true JPivot can be found at sourceforge: http://jpivot.sourceforge.net/" pozdr, -- mgl
