Rysowanie na starcie programu

Przesiadam się z Delphi na C#. Chcę na początku programu wpisać tekst do 
pictureBox lub bezpośrednio na formę.
Korzystam z przykładu

Dla
         private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
         {
             DrawText();
         }
Natomiast dla Form1_Load nie, może tekst jest zamazywany? Podobnie nie 
działa dla Form1_Activated i Form1_Shown.
Co można zrobić aby tekst był na samym starcie programu?
