Hello fellow XCommers, Microprose has not responded to our proposal so we must assume that big business and making money has once again gotten in the way of making great games. This is disgouraging and disheartening for us here at Star Blade, as it means we do not have a license to create the game. We are however going to develop it anyway, and when it is completed, if it does not impress Microprose amply, we will simply buy the lisence from them. Do not lose heart Xcom players, we will perservere even in the worst of times. We are currently developing a line of games that will, when completed, fund a large effort into the development of the new X-COM. Thank you for your support, even when the corperations didn't. In view of this lack of response from MPS, I have been wondering on whether our own attempts at email MPS would have on the situation - will they ignore their potential customers, or actually take the time to listen? Cynicism aside, it may be worth considering, if we can agree on a formatted email to send them, from those of us on the ng - that is of course if anyone else is interested in pursuing this? I have read on other web sites that deal with strategy/wargames that Microprose is being sold to Hasbro Interactive. Hasbro has already purchased Avalon Hill and the last I heard about this at Wargamer.com was that Hasbro was trying to purchase Microprose also. If this is true, perhaps that is why there has been no response from them regarding the remake of XCOM. I am willing to start writing a standard E-mail, but I dont think Microprose will listen very much after a bombardment of -ty E-mail all stating the same. Better idea is to reply to Microprose individually and post the mail to this thread as well. For those of us with limited language skills a compilation can then be used. What do you think, Detonate. For those of us with limited language skills a compilation can >then be used. What do you think, Detonate. Agreed, the email bombing of MPS may not be such a good idea in retrospect. It might be an idea of formulating what we actually want to say, be concise, clear and to not use 'emotional' language. After all, we want to be taken seriously, which I fear will not be the case. I had a rather unpleasant phone conversation today with an employee at MPS UK. It started out... difficult, to say the least. I've just bought TFTD on CD, but have been having some problems, so I took the opportunity to phone up and ask some questions. The 'customer support' guy was blunt, patronising and gave the overall impression that I was some kind of low life, such was his attitude. However, I persevered and a conclusion was reached. I then asked who I would need to speak or write to, to find out about the rumours of a remake of the XCOM original[s]. He gave me some nonsense regarding Interceptor and Alliance, but I explained the situation and recent rumours. I can only say his attitude became more condescending and after several minutes of this, I terminated the call. The attitude of this individual reflects poorly on Microprose UK and also left me feeling pretty mad and frustrated at being treated in such a manner. I'm still considering how to pursue this matter, but its certainly left me with a bad taste in my mouth and very cynical towards Microprose now. I hope those of you in the US get better treatment than I did today at the hands of MPS UK. I'm all for working on a format kind of email to forward to MPS, but so far this thread appears to be ignored. I'm wondering if any one else is actually interested in pursuing the matter. I think until we get some response, we may well end up p***ing in the wind. Excuse my language. Watching and waiting for others views... Detonate

Press statements and actual take-overs are more important. Detonate, give me a few days and I will send an E-mail to Microprose USA. I think Microprose is originally US based, so getting the answers from the right people seem to be most likely coming from there. I am sorry to hear about your experience with the helpdesk at Microsoft UK. Any problems I had in the past were always easily solved by visiting Microprose's site at www.microprose.com(I presume that that is the US based site) and downloading patches. best regards.
