I have the 1994 Uk version of xcom with the manual. I did have the oem patch
from microprose on a cd however the cd in no longer readable. The drive I
kept it on has been reformatted to clean up a problem with worms.

I have looked around the net for about a week and I haven't been able to
find the patch.

I've tried the ce version but it's too buggie. I would like to know if
anyone one knows were I can find the oem patch from microprose.

If your wondering, I kept an old 200Mz system alive just for this game.

Any help with were I can download the patch from would be appreciated.
Thanks

Rodney,

I have copies of two different Official patches. The first is
XCOM14.ZIP, the 1.4 patch to the US version. The second is UFOV12.ZIP, which
is the 1.2 patch to the UK version, dated April 12, 1994. I will send that
directly to the e-mail listed in your post.

Well, afraid I'm not much help. Even Patches Scrolls doesn't seem to
have it, and I thought they had *everything*. Have you tried the 1.4
patch to see if it might work?

Only other suggestion would be to try contacting Scott Jones and see
if he has it. It's probably a long shot, but since he tries to make
xcomutil compatible with every version, perhaps he keeps such things
or knows where they can be found.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

The Microprose FTP server is still around, curiously enough.

If you want to play the original, with just the worst map bugs fixed,
get the ufofix.zip. There are interesting "features", such as
unlimited stats, which wrap at 128 and you can get thousands of units
of Elerium, if you succeed in a base defense. GUS support works. Some
other things too, laser pistols easily penetrate even a flying suit
and Sectopods are vulnerable to incendiary, not lasers.

The 1.2 fixes all the abovementioned problems, but I always felt it
lessens the game a little. There was a 1.3 patch too, but I never
found out what the difference was between 1.2 and 1.3. Only one file
was changed as I recall.

There is also the 1.4 patch, but I don't see the point. It includes a
new sound system, which is fine, but it also replaces some sound
effects and the replacements suck.

Thanks guys I found what I was looking for. I think. This game is worth
playing over again even 10 years later.
