I'm still playing, still having fun, lost USA, Canada, India and one other who I forgot :/ October year 1 and I'm still using Avalanchers to down the alien craft :( I guess I'm researching in all the wrong order. However, my boyfriend has been watching me play and tonight he loaded it up himself. First comments were 'Ugh' at the graphics but 2 hours later I finally dragged him off the PC for my go :) He's got that look about him that says 'I may want the PC tomorrow' :P This game is truly a classic, yeah it may not have fancy graphics but it was light years ahead of its time. I remember buying a Playstation for this one game, I lovedit so much, it's so great to be playing it again. What's Terror like? Better than XCom or worse? Should I be dusting that off and firing it up? All opinions appreciated :) /me props eyelids open and fires up XCom again......

All opinions appreciated :) Terror is virtually identical to XCom save for cosmetic issues and an increase to the difficulty of the game because of tougher opponents and an inability to use some of the best weapons in Terror missions. Oddly grenades seem a bit more effective and useful, and there is one new weapon, the Vibroblade, that helps even the odds. There are of course, new maps.

As David's said, it's more of the same, but harder, far far harder. I've completed the original using just the X-Com Sniper Rifle, I'll not be doing that for the second game! -- The DervMan www.dervman.com

All opinions appreciated :) Most people think the original is better, but I like Terror. There's a larger variety of missions and they are more difficult, including several different 2-stage missions. The maps in general are much bigger, which can be a real pain trying to find that last alien. Hand-to-hand weapons were mentioned and these bring an entirely new dynamic to combat. Unfortunately, there are a few bugs so the latest patch is essential and having XComutil is very useful as well. It's certainly worth firing up and checking out to decide for yourself which you prefer. Warren
