Hello, This message is directed to the blessed Scott T. Jones, creator of the inimitable XcomUtil, who threatened my life of productivity and daily sunshine in college by making the most splendid Microprose game fresh again, and to whom I now come to importune for assistance in my struggle to install his ingenious utility with the Collector's Edition of the forementioned splendid game. This is the error message: XCOMWIN 1.0 version of game detected Read failure on GEOSCAPE.EXE Error executing XCOMUTIL, XCUSETUP aborted I am using version 9.42 of the utility with the CE version of the game. My understanding is that xcomutil tries to separate the combined exe back into geoscape.exe and tactial.exe, which it indeed accomplished. The newly created geoscape.exe just seems to be incorrect. An identical problem was reported some months ago for XcomUtil 9.31 in the following thread: http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2225 The problem for that user was solved when someone uploaded their geoscape.exe and tactical.exe that were created by their programs. Later that week you released a new version that putatively solved the problem, but alas, hapless as I am, it has arisen again on my computer (which is a pentII, 450mHz, 96 or so RAM, very serviceable machine).
