Yet another bug help request (TFTD)

Hi Guys. I'm trying to play X-COM2 TFTD for the first time on my WinXP
machine and keep running into this bug:
When a character walks off the edge of a building/structure/etc, the game
will hang. I'm playing the DOS version and have updated to version 2. I'm
wondering whether my old floppies have been corrupted. They are about 5
years old??! I don't recall encountering this problem when I last played
the game in Win98.

BTW, I used XComUtil and swapped sides. The same problem happens with
aliens and non-combatant humans in terror missions. I don't think it's a
sound config issue because the bug occurs even when I disable sound and
music in "setup."

All help appreciated. Also--I'd be interested in buying X-Com2 CD if the
problem is related to my floppy disks.

Did you set the "compatability" setting to run the Xcom exe file as if you
were using win 9x?
