I agree - 'or whoever owns the rights to X-Com'. I mean, what exactly would
we be signing there. Get it right before you ask people to put their name to
it.

Did something happen to Firaxis buying the rights then?

Yes, easily found with Google. Other bits can also be found. Is there
a reason this claim should be believed?

Dear Michah,
Could you please forward to me the actual email that you received including
the reply address on the email? While Steve Martin is our COO, he never sent
this email and I'm wondering who did.

Also fyi, Infogrames owns the rights to the X-Com series, not Firaxis Games.

Thanks for your help in this matter.

Fireaxis licensed the rights to some old Microprose brands, but given that
Fireaxis is Sid Meier I would guess he'll be looking at remaking something
from his personal back catalogue.

The actual rights thing is complicated. Hasbro bought MPS, along with the
rights. They still own the rights via a sub-company. IIRC Infogrammes (now
Atari), licensed the rights for 25 years and have a large shareholding in
the sub-company. I don't know for sure if the license was exclusive, but I
believe it was.
