 I've tried that a few times too, but I have a poor memory when it
comes to names so I never can remember who is who, so they're all the
same to me. (Although sometimes it saddens my heart a bit when I shoot
my own MCed soldiers whose names I remember) And with the soldier
equipping being what it is, I never bother equipping anyone
differently, although I do pick up alien weapons. 

 My tactic is to scout around with two guys or so and open fire with
everything I can whenever I see an alien. _Always_ on autofire.
