So what? Age doesn't invalidate laws. And I'm genuinely sorry if you feel
that you have been abused. From the point of view of the group, it was all
perfectly justified.

So what? That's iD Software, not MPS. If my parents let me use their car,
I wouldn't go and steal someone's jag.

No, you got flamed for posting possibly trollish comments, not bothering to
acquaint yourself with the group by lurking before posting, and for offering
to break software laws. Being a newbie didn't help, either, but your own
laziness and ignorance as to the group were contributing factors.

Pointing someone in the right place? You've already said you've got the
games. And this is NOT a Master of Orion newsgroup. There are at least two
of those.
Before you start whining about how harshly you were treated - a beating is
always a better, longer-lived and more emphatic punishment than a politely
worded reprimand.

> WTF yall played this game for so many years

Note one Larry P. Note how nicely he introduced himself, how he wasn't
flamed, rather welcomed with open arms.

Indeed you did.

> Excuse me for forgetting and being a NEWBIE.

Forgetfulness had nothing to do with it. What, you "forgot" piracy was
illegal? If you'd lurked awhile first, you'd know that piracy is HEAVILY
frowned upon here.
Apologising rather than muttering excuses would stand you in far greater
stead with us. This is Usenet. Leave your ego at the door...

Guess what? You've just made your situation here trebly worse!

Wow, guess what? That's sextupled your idiocy in my view!

Yep, those are for legal MPS-provided patches. Unless you mean Scott Jone's
XCOMUTIL system, which is a super-patch in itself? Scott Jones has
contributed a lot more to this group and to X-COM as a whole than some idiot
pirate.

Try figuring out why. If you need it explaining, you are beyond hope.

Yeah, because you were off-topic, as well as asking for someone to help you
break copy protection.

> I really did call Microprose on this and they

I'm genuinely sorry. Try talking to people on the MOO groups instead.

> Newbie
> Flaming FREAKS

You really are truly stupid, aren't you?

Cheers for brightening up my Saturday!
