Dear Freind, I agree that a lot of people out there, like yourself have
lost there Innocence to X-com, and have been seduced by the third
installment (Apocalypse) due to the fact of the real time option. I
myself having followed the x-com series for many years also liked the real
time option in apocalypes and sadly in the said game thats all I did use.
Due to the fact that when I did use the turn based option it just didnt work
for me in that game. They levels were just too big, It took forever just
to find the damm aliens, and the battles would just drag and drag. Maybe
because of the instalment of real time and trying to bring x-com upto date
they sadly neglected the turnbased side ?

Sadly you did not say if you had played the fist two games . If you are new
to the x-com scene then I suggest you go and buy them now, and see what you
have been missing.
Having played Apoc for a year now and I must say am still playing it. I am
really enjoying the real time mode (though I would have loved to have played
it in turn based mode if it was not for the said problems. For me you just
cant beat enemy unknown or terror from the deep, There is something there
that keeps drawing you back to them. I personaly I cant put my finger on
it, I just dont know what that magic is. All I can say is go, buy, and
enjoy.
