What kind of MIDI was used on wing commanders 1 and 2 DOS? Was it General MIDI or was it MT-32/lapc-1 MIDI? Also, what is the name of the utility that cleans up the bugs caused by the transfer program in wing commander 1?

But WCSAV - Savegame Editor ftp://ftp.wcnews.com/files/wing1/wc1sav.zip Does it as well besides the ability to cheat. -- Don't be irreplaceable; if you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted. Your answer says nothing. If you can't answer either "General MIDI," "MT-32," "lapc-1" or, more exotically "sound canvas" (only Ultima VIII has that option AFAIK) then it is better not to answer at all. It is obvious I know far more about the subject than you. > > I dunno if there is "one utility" to do this. I asked a specific question and he gave a vague answer as though he were telling me something. That was slightly insulting to me, whether he considered it so or not. It implied I didn't know exactly what I was asking for in my question. If he had demonstrated uncertainty in whether he was answering the question I would not have been angered, and probably would have explained the terminology I used. I don't think Karl's reply implied that you 'didn't know exactly what you were asking' in any way. That said, I'm willing to go the extra mile and flat out state the fact that you didn't know what you were asking: the General MIDI standard did not exist in 1990. The original Wing Commander supports LA Synth MIDI, the only sort that Roland produced cards for at the time (Roland cards being what Karl suggested you look into...). (Wing Commander II also shipped just before the General MIDI standard was unveiled in 1991...) -- Ben Lesnick http://www.wcnews.com
