Another silly Freelancer question...

Greetings All,

First off, thanxs to all who responded to my earlier posts, you all
were a great help, even the guy with the artwork!

Anyway, I have FL with the "FL.exe" patch installed, just finished it
again and found the Lancers Reactor site which is pretty neat site.
I d/led the "Equalizer MK2" MOD to try and have some fun with the
game. I added the ini files from mk2 to the proper places in the FL
directories (taking out the old ones) and started the game. I know
part of the mod worked because part of it skipped the splash scenes
like it was supposed to to load faster, but during a new game in the
Freeport 7 destruct scene, it would crash just after FP7 was hit and
go to my desktop, the sound would go for a few seconds and then give
me a error message and quit.

So, I went back to LR site and read the ending description which said
that this mod was used with Freelancer SDK v1.3 full and Freelacer
1.00 (the game itself). So, I got 1.3 and installed it, that took
care of the crashes and the game went on as usual....completly. The
EQ2 mod was suppose to start Trent off with a different ship and such
but he still started with the usual stuff.

All righty then....my question (and I must apologize, this is my first
time with mods, in this case I didn't want to do much more than
installing this mod and playing in game with what it supplied, not
making a mod myself or altering one, so sorry for the long post),
would be....Should I uninstall/reinstall FL, leave it at 1.00, then
install the SDK and then put in the EQ2? And if so did I do the EQ2
right by just replacing the ini files in the game folders with the new
ones? That's how it looked to me as there was no "auto install" like
with the SDK.

Thank you again for your help and advise!
And thank you Lancer Reactors for your great programs!

Lancer's Reactor actually has a mod forum where they will trouble shoot issues
like this and give you advice.

BTW, the best add-on for WCP is the one that provides for better screen
resolutions.

When it works it is a massive improvement.

Neat stuff.

As for Freelancer, a number of the mods are interesting. Most just add new
ships, but a few change up the levels.

What is missing is the beta code that included true radar, etc. and the other
missions (the game shipped with only half of the missions that were designed --
at the end Microsoft decided to ship the thing on a single CD. As a result the
code is a lot cleaner than it would have been [they cleaned out a lot of hooks]
and there are fewer missions than the designers put together).

What Freelancer needs is the true autopilot back (so you can click on a route
and go to the end without having to fly all the way there), ECM that scrambles
lane disruption (so that nothing kicks the autopilot off line except for
regularly scheduled encounters), and a real radar.

Oh, a Freelancer 2 would be nice as well.

Probably not going to see that, which is too bad. As far as I can tell, the
project was finished and the entire team moved on.

At least they finished it.
