WC Prophecy on a newer machine

Ok, I decided to try playing some prophecy, with all the options installed,
figured it would be fun on a system with about ten times the recommended
resources.

Problems.

The movies play much to fast, skipping between various parts.

I can't seem to find a resolution control (so I can change the resolution). I
don't recall if it had one or not.

Fun though.

Any help or suggestions appreciated, I'd like to watch all the movies and cut
scenes.

Nope, WCP only plays at 640x480, without the assistance of a fan-made
patch for 1024x768 resolution, available from the WC CIC's files
section (<http://www.wcnews.com/files.shtml>).

As for your problem, it sounds, without knowing what hardware you
have, like the old hardware sound acceleration bug, most commonly
found with SoundBlaster cards (and their external sound thingy, too).
To fix it, you need to turn down the hardware sound acceleration to
"none".

Easiest way to turn the acceleration down is via dxdiag.exe, in the
"Sound" tab, but can also be done through Multimedia properties, in
the Control Panel. You don't need to reboot after turning it down,
but when you turn it back up afterwards you _do_ need to reboot.
