Hey all, I've recently had an urge to play Privateer (1) again. However, I'm running Windows 98, and was wondering if there is any way to run it from INSIDE windows. ATM I have it set to prevent the .exe from detecting windows, but after starting itup, it says that a network card driver has been detected (naturally, since I have a network card) and it can't enter protected mode safely. Any ideas?

Any ideas? The memory scheme used by any flavor of Windows is completely incompatible with the JEMM memory overlay that Privateer uses. There's absolutely no way to run it within Windows itself, you must use a "pure" DOS environment. (DOS emulation doesn't work so hot, either... Priv/RF is very picky about its operating environment. That's beyond the scope of this post, though, and the details are beyond my personal knowledge database.)
