Goodmorning everybody, Do you know any games like WCP? I played with WCIII, WCIV, WCP, WCSO and Freespace 2 (all original, and the last 3 are great, even if FS2 hasn't FVM scenes. My favourite character is Hawk, too bad he died). Now I'd like to know what other space simulators there are like WCP or WCSO. Can you help me? Thanks a lot

Aquanox is a mixture of spacesim and egoshooter when it comes to steering (it is actually a submarine game) and Echelon - well see for yourself. Didn't like it at all. BTW: You might also have a look at Hardwar. It is more a trading game (Privateer, Elite,...) then a war one, but if you can find it cheap it is worth a buy IMHO. -- There are 2 times when a man doesn't understand a woman - before marriage and after marriage. Shameless self promotion: Try the fist mod to Secret Ops: Unknown Enemy You can find it at: unkownenemy.solsector.net Besides that Mr.G already gave pretty much the whole list of interesting games. You might aslo want to consider earlier WC titles like WC1, WC2, Privateer 1,... -- There are 2 times when a man doesn't understand a woman - before marriage and after marriage. It was a very fun and pulpy little game marred IMO only by an irritating memory leak in the menu system. Took me a while to adjust to atmospheric steering and regular throttle adjusment for the trick flying, though, LOL. <lurk> Jammer Jim Roberts-Miller -- Texas A&M '89, '91 "Is there in Truth no Beauty?" Would those be the ones where you have to race the bad guys through the movie set, and the other one where you're forced to use that autogyro thing in the Pirate hangout? Those were the worst for me, though after I learned you can throttle down, the movie set got a lot easier. But really don't most sims have at least one or two missions that drive everyone crazy? Yup. The two everyone loves ;)

The movie is rather easy once you get the feeling for it. Of course
using the trick to open up a certain obstacle a bit helps a lot. I only
really crash in the NY set at the end if at all now. Stupid statue of
liberty...
The gyro would be a lot better if you could arm it your way. I actually
use that little plane a lot, but only when I am allowed to configure it.
Also the game is a bit stupid here. For example I tried to lure the bad
guys to the Pandora so that my 'carrier' can shoot them down. Just that
it doesn't ... :-(

> drive everyone crazy?
Hmm. What really sucks is that due to the memory leak the game is likely
to crash when you repeat a mission 10 times. I dunno how often that
happened to me in the case of the 2...

You play the role of a mercenary. So you pick missions like in privateer
that you do for money. For your profit you can buy new ships or better
gizmos for your old one.
While the game looks to be quite freeform in reality there really are
only 2 paths that you can follow. Its a pure story game, no real free
gameplay, it just feels free on the first play ;)
Storywise it is quite nice, but the whole story is only done via text
and a couple of in engine cutscenes IIRC.
Multiplayer is probably the best one ever done in a spacesim with the
basewar concept (3 sectors. 1 friendly home, 1 enemy home and one
resource sector in the middle). In order to win you have to collect
enough resources to build torpedos to kill the other side.
