WC-P: Movies Play Too Fast?

I recently dug up my Wing Commander Prophecy disks and thought I'd give the
game another run. Everything installed just fine but playing any of the
videos makes them run at 4x speed. Has anyone else run into this problem
and found a way around it? System specs are as follows:

AMD Athlon 1.67MHz with 512 RAM
Windows XP Pro
Geforce4 vid card + SB Live sound

Thanks in advance!

Old, known problem. You need to turn down hardware acceleration on
your sound card. Least problematic way, IMO, is to just run "dxdiag"
from the "Run" window, and select the "sound" tab, and move the
resultant slider all the way to the left (no acceleration). You don't
need to reboot to turn off acceleration, but do need to reboot upon
turning it back on afterwards.

(At least, that's the Win98 way. I don't know if XP differs
significantly from the above procedure.)

hi,

I had the same problem (and the same sound-card ;).
Different attitudes (e.g.. DX no sound acceleration)
did not bring a solution on my system.

Only the change of the sound card brought the solution.
Now I play with a SB 4.1 sound card and it works "perfekt"

If you also dont can solve the problem by deactivate the sound acceleration,
you should test a other sound-card (e.g.. a old one, if you have).

best regards

Thanks for the suggestion. I changed the setting in dxdiag and everything
works perfectly.

Cheers
