Unknown Enemy is out and I download it's pretty big file and I was
somewhat disappointed... It's TOO DAMN HARD on some missions!! Take
the 2nd mission for example, "First Strike", you have to protect the
Marine LC to dock on the Fralthi. But when that happens, five guys
spawn out and they all attack it at once. I can't distract all of
them, even with all the wingmen. That's when the damned Marine LC gets
destroyed.

Any help? The only way I can beat it is by using the cheat 'shoehorn'
and then CTRL-F12.

Thanks,

Justin

A stupid question probably, but are you aware that you can adjust the
difficulty setting in the options menu, just like in WCP and SecretOps?
Try a lower setting that fits you.

The mission you describe is actually a rather easy one in my opinion. I
never menaged to get that LC destroyed unless I killed it myself...

What is Unknown Enemy? Is it some mod? Where can I get it? Thanks! It
would be fun to play some new missions :)!
I have all of WC4 left, but embarrasingly enough I got stuck right
in the beginning, where you have to do some scout run on a planet. Too
many missiles and enemies! I saw some walkthrough that said I should
use my missiles on the missile batteries on the ground. (And only use
guns on the flying bastards?) Did you get past that mission like that,
or did you do something else?
/Thanks, Torbjörn

Yep - a mod for Secret Ops. A damn great one as well. Just as great as
other WC games. Ok - I am biased as I was a team member. :-)
Set in the Union of Borderworld you relive the invasion of the Bugs from
their point of view. You'll fly the Scimitor, Epee and Banshee from an
old Bengal Class carrier (that is the Tigers Claw type). Only downside
is that it is relatively short (10 sim missions, 11 storyline missions
in one playtrough, more if you count branching)

Using IR missiles on ground turrets is highly recommended. Also you
might want to turn down difficulty a level if you find WC4 too hard.
Personally I enjoy it most at the rather low Veteran level while I don't
have any problems to play WCP or SO on Nightmare. WC4 is rather hard
IMHO so don't feel embarassed if you find yourself using a lower settinf.

Just to double check: do I need WCP to play this game? Specifically, Secret
Ops?

WCP Gold includes this, yes?

I like to play all games on rookie with invulnerable enabled. But
that's because I enjoy killing cap ships with guns only.

Well, WCP and WCSO are two very separate games. You do NOT need WCP to
install and play WCUE. But to be honest I'm not sure if you need WCSO --
I happened to have it installed, so I don't know if it's necessary.

> WCP Gold includes this, yes?

Include WCSO? Yes. WCP Gold is a box set of WCP, WCSO, and a new (very
nice) manual. It does NOT include WCUE.

Yes, you need the main Secret Ops package. Luckily, this is the part that's
freely available for download at Secretops.com

Yeah, sure, I knew that (not including WCUE).

Thanks.

Ah. Ok, THAT's what I was wondering - how many people would be able to play
this game..

I guess that means it's more or less completely free, then? Cool..

No, you don't. You also don't need WCP to play Secret Ops

> Specifically, Secret
> Ops?

Yes. You need WingCommander Secret Ops to play the UE as it is only a
mod and not a standalone game.
Note that for the minimum requirement you only need the basic package of
Secret Ops (language does not matter).
If you want to also have speech in Unknown Enemy (respectively if you
installed the Full version of UE) you also need the Secret Ops Speech
Pack or UE will crash. Englisch Speech pack is highly recommended here.
You don't need the Secret Ops missions or a password for your callsign -
so the free Demo of Secret Ops that is still available will do.

> WCP Gold includes this, yes?

Yes, SO is on the 4th disk.
UE also works with that version and you don't have to bother with all
that package stuff I mentioned above.

If you are using the full install of UE you also need the full install
of SO, not only the base files

It is completely free, yes. You just pay for your download cost.

Hmm. Besides WC2 killing Caps with guns is very much possible even with
vulnerability on.

Yes, the main package, which would be the freely available portion. You don't
need the episodes installed to play UE.
