Well, the SW universe has energy weapons and shielding to deal with
them. ST has anti-matter torpedoes in a couple of varieties that
simply wink shielding out of existence with the first shot... then the
second and third, etc. shots fly through that hole and annihilate huge
holes of matter. I don't think even the Death Star could take that for
long!
