A Freelancer question...

Greetings All,

I am going through Freelancer for the second time, only this time I am
taking advantage of a "walk through" about the wrecks in freelancer
done by Matthew Lawson (Thanks Matthew, great guide!).

I know that any ship I have has a few different "cargo bays" on it.
The main one that most everything you beam aboard (the gray squares
turn blue in your inventory screen) and one for your guns that I had
heard holds 26 guns/missile launchers/drones etc. I am at that part
where we got the Proteous Tome(sp?) and I am in an "Order" heavy
fighter. I have been looting the wrecks in each system I can get to
when I'm not being dragged around and yelled at for going to slow for
my main source of income, which has been *very* profitable!

I am at level 17 and I was wondering, what is used to determine at
what point I go up a level? Is it related solely to my income? I have
about $400,000 in cash, my ship, my mounted guns. Approx. $700,000
total. Does the guns I have "in stock" ie not mounted, count into it
or do I have to sell them in order to gain the monetary benefit? I
have about 10 level 10 guns I can;'t use right now but was hanging on
to them to use later (although, they all have a fire rate of 2.00, I
have learned to like the ones I am using that fire at a rate of 4.00
but thought 2.00 might be too slow. I can sell them for $33,000 a pop
as they are "code" guns you can't get anywhere else.

Also, has anyone continued on much after the story to get the
top-of-the-line ship and guns?

Just curious ;>

Thank you in advance.
