I don't know how you came to the conclusion that Origin was in financial trouble (especially as WCP made them more profit then WC3 or WC4). Can you say EXPERIMENT? To my knowledge SO is the only game that was ever released in this fashion (episode by episode over a two months timeframe). And at least for the players it also was a huge success IMHO. Never had there been so much conversation around a game as for SO in the WC community - simply because we had been forced to only play small parts instead of rushing through the whole thing in two days. > If Origin were not in trouble, they would have included FMV's and they would > have released it properly IF it was a standalone game to continue the Wing > Comander series. What they did was to release it in a unique but weird way, > but then use that "way" as an excuse for how the reason why they didn't film > any FMV's. How many percent of people had broadband when SO was released? How many of the last 10 space sims released feature FMV? How many of ALL games released last year use FMV? How did the profit of the whole industry develop over the last 2-3 years? (Hint: Very very few, especially outside the USA 0 I don't know any, but certainly few Dramatic rise in profits, surpassing the movie business AFAIK) Oh, and BTW: I can name at least one other space sim that was first distributed for free and now is in the shelves as full retail version! Halcyon Sun... No it also doesn't have FMV, so don't bother buying it. -- Q: How many Gill Bateses does it take to change a light bulb? A: One. He puts the bulb in and lets the world revolve around him. [Delete the karl after the @ to avoid my spam trap]
