I hadn't heard about the virus on MS distributions but >that's certainly inexcusable. With Win95, at release time (any you never hear about it any longer...) there was an issue with the diskette version. Specifically, MS informed the world that there was a virus out there that lurked on your PC, didn't do anything at all, ever, was never noticed, until disk _2_ of the Win95 set was inserted in your drive, and then the virus smiled all over the disk, leaving it blank. Once it erradicated disk 2, users promptly returned the package to their reseller. Reseller trades in. User loses disk #2 again. Repeat a few time until someone clues in and calls MS. MS says "check for virii". User checks for virii, removes virus. Gets new disk set from MS. Problem never happens again. Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying it WAS a virus on disk #2, but the situation was odd enough to suggest that it was a normal (ie. non-Win95-disk2-eating-specific) virus, that happened to come on disk 2. The fact you never hear about it anymore could be due to the disk being cleaned at manufacturing, or due to the number of new floppy installs being near zero. Who knows the truth. Mulder & Scully should visit MS headquarters. <Grin> +========================================================================+ | Life is like an onion; layer upon layer upon layer, it leaves a bad | | taste in your mouth, and it makes you want to cry. -Pink | +==================== Web Site Under Construction ========== Team OS/2 ==+
