In WC1 (at least in the demo) I would always get a "The Orcs are approaching" whenever the orcs would get close to my troops. But the only time I get notified of any enemy activity in WC2 is when I get damaged. Anybody else notice this? Any reason why? -- +-------------------+----------------------------+------------------------+ | Bill Poitras | Molecular Simulations Inc. | Tel (408)522-0116 | | bi...@ba.msi.com | Sunnyvale, CA 94087-40237 | FAX (408)522-0199 | +-------------------+----------------------------+------------------------+ |FTP Mail |mail ftp...@decwrl.dec.com | Offers:ftp via email | | |Subject:<CR>help<CR>quit | | +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+

There is (generally) FOW in WC2, and was meant to be played with FOW. In such cases, the time you know the enemy is approaching till the time they attack is usually minimal anyway. They only inform you when your unit gets attacked, not earlier. (all units assumed friendly until they attack?) >Any reason why? They just made the game that way. Automan

So as soon as your unit with the best sight sees an enemy, you get notified with sound. Usually I end up hearing about the attack, when the first guys get damaged. By the time ai get there several of my peons/archers/mages are dead, and my Ogres across the complex can't be mobilized in time to help defend. : There is (generally) FOW in WC2, and was meant to be played with FOW. : In such cases, the time you know the enemy is approaching till the time : they attack is usually minimal anyway. But if I build guard towers, I would like to think they are doing some good with their extra scounting. -- +-------------------+----------------------------+------------------------+ | Bill Poitras | Molecular Simulations Inc. | Tel (408)522-0116 | | bi...@ba.msi.com | Sunnyvale, CA 94087-40237 | FAX (408)522-0199 | +-------------------+----------------------------+------------------------+ |FTP Mail |mail ftp...@decwrl.dec.com | Offers:ftp via email | | |Subject:<CR>help<CR>quit | | +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+
