The fnal countdown...

So, 6 days to go, and as with every expansion, I'm asking myself the
usual question: why did I get bored and barely play for months, yet
now it's nearly over, I can think of tons of things I've not finished
and I'm now in a huge rush to do them all (and won't succeed in time)?
Every single time I do this! In fairness, not all were actually
possible before the patch, but a fair number were... so now I'm
working on:

Val'anyr
Dragonwrath
Shadowmourne (fair enough, none of those three were soloable before,
at least not for me)
Thunderfury (I've only been able to solo this since Wrath...)
Onyxia mount
Malygos mount
ZG mounts
Hawkstrider in Magister's Terrace
Attumen's mount
Rep for recipes on my tailor/enchanter (like, getting her to 90 before
last week might've helped there)
Various toys/mounts to craft on my engineer
Going to Need a Bigger Bag (cmon, 500 kills and Jademist Dancer STILL
hasn't dropped..)
Know Your Role (only discovered the trick to cheese this a week ago...
ofc the last daily I need hasn't popped since then)
UBRS (been kinda scared off by the stories of it being a wipefest...)
Glorious! (couldn't solo some of the rares prepatch, can't find them
alive now)

Could've done most of those ages ago, sigh!

The legendary ones are kinda fun, tough even now tbh, I can't actually
solo all Ulduar 25 yet (we usually duo it fine), very slowly did most
of it the other night, ran out of mana on Vezax though - fortunately I
had a warrior alt on follow who didn't have the mana problem! And
can't solo Yogg-Saron at all, just not got the dps... at least not
with only one keeper up, maybe next time I'll try with all of them and
stop being ambitious!

Firelands is one I'm very glad the quest works on 10N, we struggled
bigtime the time we tried 10H, and much as I want the heroic tier set
for my warrior, that's waiting for lvl 100 I think, once was quite
enough! Not entirely sure I could solo it even on normal, my dps is
pretty weak now.

Shadowmourne is potentially the least painful but I'm at the quest
which involves Blood Queen and biting three people.. now, considering
me and my bf have 3 accounts between us, this involves much care with
combat resses (and cursing when we discovered shaman ankh and DK
battleres now share a 30 min cd - no safety net for us then!), and
after several failures to untimely deaths/mindcontrols (only one of us
has DBM) we gave up... however we were being adventurous and trying
heroic mode, next week (erm, well, if we don't do it on Wednesday
it'll be "next month" instead :-P) we'll try on normal and see if we
can survive it!

Heroic Lich King (25) is owning us at present, that shadow trap thing
that chucks you off the platform, argh, we're improving slightly, but
got sick of it, might go back tomorrow and have another shot, having
got that far we want to finish it, but ouch, tough when you're not
used to it. There's a lot of extra mechanics on heroic in general
which are a pain, Lady Deathwhisper was a nightmare too, MCd us and
despawned several times till we gave up and sent 2 characters back to
the entrace while the 3rd soloed it... and omg it's PAINFUL trying to
solo her when you can't cleanse that 15 second cd on every ability
curse. Should've made my bf do it on his shaman, at least he can
remove curses, even if my priest had way higher ilvl (which was why I
did it)!

I've just got a couple things.

My lock needs to finish the Green Fire questline - just the final
boss is left, and at 562 ilvl I think its doable. Lots of good
strats on Youtube.

I finally pulled the trigger and used my 90 boost on the rogue. I
had a stockpile of Timeless items, so kitted him out in ilvl 496
immediately. Now up to 522.

Frog hollow on Timeless Isle is now an absolute slaughterhouse,
with dozens of dead frogs on the ground at many moment. People
are farming Timeless Coins and Lesser Charms, presumably to buy
Burdens and upgrades.

My rogue farms it while waiting for UBRS to pop. It really is
a wipefest, because most of the players running it are alts
trying to get 550 ilvl gear, just like my rogue.

At the moment, the rogue gets 3k to 9k dps on the frogs, lower
in UBRS. It feels about like 80-90k pre-patch.

Ooh, good luck! I should have a shot at that on my warlock actually,
forgot all about it, however as I'm at 496 ilvl and am frankly not the
most skilled of players, it won't work well, I think...

Mine will be used on *a* rogue, just not sure which yet, can either
boost my existing troll, or racechange my 90 human to undead and boost
a dwarf instead - still holding out hope for model/animation
improvements before taking the racechange option, but I really can't
stand the human model as it stands, it's not becoming more tolerable
with time, either!

Same on my server, totally mental, and very annoying as I still don't
have the pet from Bufo - who now has a life expectancy of about one
millisecond, and usually whoever killed him didn't have the addon so
the time isn't accurate. I'll just come back for him after WoD goes
live, I guess, there's a load of other things I need on that island
and won't get in time anyway.

Ouch, I bet that left every other healer in the guild absolutely
furious :-/ The legendary cloak questchain from MoP is a much better
way IMO, leaves guild politics completely out of it and it's just down
to personal effort now, far less drama when you're not fighting your
guildmates for a chance at something!

I tried most the strats found on youtube after 6.0.2 landed on my comp.
But as I seriously suck at pressing the right buttons and click the
right spells in the right sequence while I move to the right position at
the right time I ended up nuking/oneshotting the boss with all possible
CDs incl. pre-potting. Before I nuked him I had spent several hours on
the strats...

I had chosen the grimoire of sacrifice talent here as I sacrificed my
void tank for the extra spell damage when he lost aggro later in the fight.
This was done with a 571 destro lock. But it was so easy that it should
be doable by your lock too without too much hassle as this fight is made
for 5.3 geared locks. He was dead before the first swarm of imps. Just
avoid his rain of fire + remember to control the demon (set it to Assist
as its set to passive once when you control it!) and you should be fine.
And save your second jade pot until you have 4 embers for 4 shadow bolts.

So...
1. Place your void where the boss starts the fight, let it aggro the boss.
2. Nuke.
3. Control demon, set demon to Assist.
4. more nuke.
Profit. :)

Not bored, exhausted by choice.

Not much done here, so much choice, no time, so no choice really - do
what is simple and interruptible.
Make sure all have the same size bags because the offsets annoy me.
Kit out the Forlorn Hope a bit better, grind frogs a bit for full
upgrades on the 553, add a few crafted gear.

Spend a lot buying any mat sold at or near vendor price.
Consequently a brief excursion into cut gems, and ran away screaming.
Vermilion onyx, promoted from tiger opal with a lotus, fine, simple, I
do that in batches to fill supply. Orange gems for pvp seem to be in demand.
onyx has 22 cuts, multiplied by every gem type...just not worth the
effort.
Seriously, people sell 50 stacks near or -below- vendor 4g, there is no
risk here.

Same thing for other mats all the way down, vendor price at 6pm, 4x
vendor at 7pm, buy/sell churn.

Get an Edward the Odd drop, vendor it accidentally, must have gone along
with all the timeless junk vendors because I can't find it.

Plan for Invasion of Draenor :
Send in the warlock alchemist herb first, half 553.
Once scouted and secured a base of operations
send is dk miner blacksmith some 553.
Grind grind grind, turn a lot of mobs into lootable.
   Find out about garrison.
   Make mistakes about garrisons.
   Spend a lot on garrison.
Send greens back to my more rubbish alts, all timeless but not upgraded
beyond a smattering of 553.
Grind grind grind, turn a lot of mobs into lootable.

Get lost in choice, have a lot of DOH! moments
retreat to nice quiet ah.

Since the promoted 90 has a 383 2h equivalent to a 20k timeless 2h ,
I am hoping the initial 500-ish green will fill in gaps fairly quickly.
When it says go and nuke mobs for 10 bits of fluff, nuke 20 ,
assuming the mobs survive a tiny bit longer than a gulp frog.
Maybe just take the week off and let things settle down.
If it takes a little bit longer, a bit more grinding, a few thousand
more clicks this is no real problem.
People are running around maximising their gear so they can level
faster. Why in such a hurry to get the xpac content over and done with
asap? If it was chocolate people are planning to down 6 family size
blocks in a week :-)
