My approach to that, is: screw it, I'll use Timeless Coins to convert
to valor and upgrade the most useful slots (weapon always gives a big
boost), but I'm making no priority out of it. I'm sick of valor
farming and won't do it; now you can get it from Timeless Coins I'll
use up some of my stock of those, beyond that, I'll play as normal.
Which at present, isn't on my 90s anyway lol, I log them in for
Celestials and Ordos most weeks, then go and play my ironman challenge
character, else go to D3 - I'll get back to Pandaria in time but it's
a good time for a break at present!

Best thing out of this patch: Going To Need A Bigger Bag being made
accountwide! Even while desperately trying to only really play my main
on Timeless isle, I have two drops on alts (1st/only kill) which my
main never got in many many tries... now I can play the alts a bit to
get 535 trinkets and not have to worry about how many more drops will
happen to the wrong character :-)

Hehe I don't have the rep for that mount yet, need to spend some more
time on the island if I can find a not-too-populated time of day. Glad
they added the conversion though; other than the mount (whenever I get
rep for it), I have zero use for coins on my main now, so it's great
to turn them into something actually useful :-)

Indeed!  I had 15k coins which I converted to 500 VPs, did the timeless 
weekly and daily, two hcs and a single hc scen.  Vp capped.  Took me 1� 
hour even without the VP buff.  New record /me thinks. :)

My VP cap strategy has changed now.  I will farm Firewalkers' ruins with 
my mage the next week so I can build up a decent amount of coins (incl. 
timeless daily ofc).  I aoe-pulled the whole plateau (darkmoon faire == 
low pop realm!) and got around 3k coins just from mobs in 30-40 mins + 
2k from daily and weekly.
Every wednesday guildies will spam hc scens for a fast VP cap on mains 
and alts anyway so the coins will be my safe deposit in case I will miss 
a hc scen spamming or I just need a few coins etc.

No more whining from my side!

weeklies and convert coins to cap, should be fast :-)

Nice, wish I could aoe farm, but a) high-pop realm and b) my aoe dmg
sucks, single target for me lol.

Btw Darkmoon Faire, I'm assuming EU? If so, you'll get connected with
my ironman realm (Earthen Ring) sometime soon, we've been next on the
list for ages I believe. Tbh I'm not looking forward to the
connection, as ER isn't crossrealm-zoned, so it's wonderful and quiet,
but hopefully you guys aren't too busy either so it shouldn't make too
much difference! If you see a grey-geared levelling character from ER
with some variation on Iarnaig as a name anytime, that'll be me lol

Hehe :-) I can never be bothered with the valor capping anyway so the
coins are a big step up for me, I'll vastly increase my valor intake
now, and don't need to feel guilty about never bothering farming for
valor ;-)

Since I don't have time to do much but grind endlessly but in short 
bursts and run away/die often this is great,  steady trickle of 
coins=upgrades=bliss :-)  I don't think I have ever capped valour.
  e.g. doing the white tiger 3 parts..4 phone calls
       instances and anything over minutes is pretty much afk/dead even 
though I could spend hours total.
  7500 coins for an upgrade, 30,000 to cap ( assuming it works like that)
easy , beats playing lotto with chests

Is it just me or do the tiger mobs around the lake draw more adds, aggro 
a bit more and cavort back and forth even more crazily than before?
I usually farm them since they are near a safe area , are easy to run 
from with one finger on 'w' long enough with reasonable chance of 
surviving , drop the 100 coin 'meat' and they seem to be drawing 4,5,6 
at a time really easily now. I can't see my char for leaping tigers 
sometimes. Used be 2s-3s.

More good news!  If youre VP capped already and you spend 3k coins on a 
Deeds of Valor you get 150 VPs thanks to the VP buff.  This actually 
surprised me.  But this comment is important:

DMF and ER will be connected soon(TM).  So if your ironman is ally we 
can meet once the realms are merged. =)  I have a "spy" on ER too and 
that realm is just a quiet as DMF.  But rumors tells Sha'Tar and 
Moonglade will be connected too with DMF/ER despite those arent RP 
realms.  This should happen later this year once DMF and ER are connected.

Most of my ironmen are ally, yep, got one on horde, rest alliance,
working on an 82 nelf deathknight at present (yeah, dk's aren't really
part of the ironman challenge but I felt like something different -
and getting out of that starter zone is about as hard as 1-55 on
another class anyway lol, just a bit faster) :-) I don't like the
sounds of those rumours, I'd hoped it'd be just the two realms, oh
well, have to make the most of the quietness I guess. Even with extra
connections it's not likely to get as bad as Draenor, at least.

So 10,000 timeless coins = 2 levels if capped  ,
thats pretty easy to do for weapon, chest,legs

then the coins come in faster than ever for the rest
assuming they don't buff the mobs.

All my gear was capped on improvements, now I have to do it again.

Unfortunately, you *still* can't get more than 1000/week. So you
can upgrade only two items.

I'm using my coins to first buy Burdens of Eternity to use on
suitable items, then upgrading those - this gets me 551 ilvl
items, not bad since I'm not raiding these days.

A few of my items are now as high as 569.

I never knew ironman was achievement, it's not listed in the achievements
window, but I started playing during Cata and someone told me that was an
old vanilla achievement and I believed it at the time.  There were lot a
things that happen during vanilla that most newbies didn't know existed
and did not existed, without researching wowhead, wowwiki, and other
sources of unverified information on the Internet.;-)

There are loads of achs you cant find in the ach window.  But they are 
all part of the Feats of Strength ach system though.

As Lewis says, there were no achievements in vanilla, and ironman was
only invented during Cataclysm anyway (yeah, people tried similar
stuff before, I know, but this was the first time it took off on an
organised scale, I believe). 

Only achievement beyond personal satisfaction is being on the list at
http://wowironman.com - of course some people find ways to get on it
without being true ironmen (of the lvl 90s on there, two were lvl 90
boosts and one pet battled their way up, impressive level of
dedication, to be fair, but not really in the ironman spirit...), but
those of us who do it properly have formed enough of a community to
know and respect the real ones. It's a pretty fun alternative way to
play, long gaps before expansions are ideal for doing something
different :-)

Added you just now, the crossrealm friendslist works at least (my
first real experience of connected realms!), saw you were on but in AQ
so didn't bother you, bossfights aren't usually a great time for
random people to start talking at you ;-)

It already seems very busy, just passing through the portals from
Deepholm to SW to Hyjal to the flightpath I saw 6 people... I'm not
used to this! Had to laugh earlier when I saw a trade chat message, I
hadn't even known I had trade chat on until that point, it's usually
dead!

Yes.  The realms seems a bit dead.  But there is life.  Lots of raiding 
guilds are rumbling here and there and I consider an offer for a spot in

Good to hear, although I liked it dead lol - I was already getting
spammed with guildinvites even before the merge (admittedly 90% from
the same guild), since ironman challenge rules don't allow being
guilded, it's a bit annoying, especially when you get high enough
level that they think you might be useful soon!

Is there any reason you can't block guild invitations in UI ?

I have done, still get the whispers though :-) The enormous, 4-5 line
whispers that one guild was sending me every 2-3 hours, sigh... I hate
that addon :-P

I use a mod to block invites rather than the default UI option (mod
also blocks duel requests, trades from randoms, etc etc), and I left
notifications of blocked stuff on for the fun of seeing how many I
got... 6 today, the fun of everybody trying to recruit post-merge I
guess! It was 6 different guilds too, none of them the one which was
annoying me pre-merge :-)

I create extra panels on the log and filter for types.
My usual realm is getting connected today, or tomorrow, US time soon anyway.
I will have to resub some time and get banker slots on the other realm, 
and see what it has done to the AH. I spend many happy hours 
reorganising bankers for specific types of goods, more inventory space 
to spend time reorganising yay :-)

Is there any mention if the connection is permanent or
for e.g. months and sometimes rearranged to spread populations of 
connected realm groups? Wouldn't do to have loot laden bankers suddenly 
get connected somewhere else.

My bankers have their own, except I keep one unguilded to sign charters.
That one gets spammed whenever it is on in SW, a lot.

But then I enjoy banking and can't play endgame. If everyone did 
banking/AH there wouldn't be much point, like what am I going to do with

They sell quite nicely but slowly and I don't gouge, much. I am usually 
the only one to have any listed. That and the other vials mats I can 
tell there are a couple of people making a couple of VOTS a week.
It isn't even a k a week but I like the banking/ah part , 
1copper/1kgold, just different pixels :-)


The unguilded one has a normal bank full of BOAs and is mostly final 
stage sale, junk to me.
If it ends up there it is not selling, a final sale attempt or vendor.
Since I am juggling stuff and stop at any time it is easier to mass mail 
to the staged alts as I go rather than come back and try to remember 
where I was.

Real bankers have 5+ tabs each. You spend time playing endgame, I spend 
time rearranging bank icons, darn that tab is full of ghost iron, better 
buy a new tab. Not that I am a real banker, I just quiet enjoy the 
calculations of returns/deposit/ahcut and the making pretty arrangements 
of mats, a half column really annoys me.

Predicting what direction markets will go at expansion is just coin 
flipping. Probably they will go up, but the gold is going to be worth 
much less soon. Apart from rares it is just what people can't be 
bothered spending time to do themselves or want right now for a recipe 
or level they want.
While the free chars could get profs there will be a lot who just 
powerup asap, so that could ramp up older mats. Who knows.

I am trying to draw down old content stuff, but people keep selling low 
in batches and not storing, then their items expire and there is nothing 
on the market, so I fill it at a reasonable longer term level. No matter 
what I do I end up with more stock to organise and more gold coloured 
pixels :-)

24/7/52. Hmmm. I just post a few weeks every few months so probably have

  On the upswings some of the 'real' bankers get quiet precious about 
their markets when something they have been gouging the market 
mercilessly for drops to 1/2 or 1/4 what they are used to, it is like I 
am hijacking their pension plan or something. Maybe I am? :-)

I know some things I put up for 20g and shift regularly go up for 100g 
and don't seem to shift when I am away, they gouge, I like the process 
of selling, not selling means I made a mistake on estimating demand 
today. There isn't anything wrong with my calculations but I didn't 
understand what the customer would want.  Sad shopkeeper.
