If you were on EU servers I'd be delighted to help out, I'm not a
bigtime mount collector but I do have a good number and I like the
look of those ones (although I must say I prefer the alliance one to
the Horde; hopefully you'd get both for it!). But it's not going to
work cross-region so I'll have to leave it for someone else!

Yep, Cataclysm is now included in the game by default, people only
have to buy WoW+MoP to get up to date. Think that happened around the
time they announced WoD, makes sense, they don't want to put off
customers by saying "hey, you bought the game, now go and get five
expansions before you can play properly!" :-)

"You will be able to claim an exclusive mount (Spectral Gryphon for 
Alliance or the Spectral Wind Rider for Horde) when your invited friend 
first renews their subscription and pays for 30 days of game time.

Once you have claimed the Spectral mount, it is added account-wide and 
will appear for characters on both factions. You cannot learn multiple 
copies of the same mount, even if you have multiple successful Scrolls 
of Resurrection"

You can send multiples until one buys time
taking it in turns or spacing them out means people who want the mount 
get a chance. Send a request, tag it in the forum.

Also you do NOT need the battlenet email
on the request page you can use the email
OR the realm plus a character name on the realm
blizzard takes it from there.

This morning the blizzard loader offered me to pick EU, US or Asia 
region meanwhile it dl'ed a small update.  Now I cant find this region 
selection anymore.  Well I dont have any needs for playing outside EU. 
But its a small nice-to-know option if I ever feel the need to stalk 
other regions. :)  So where can I find this region selection again?

I forgot to tell I was able to roll a new char on a US realm (the game 
auto-picked a realm for me).  So I started searching for this 
cross-region thing, but found no information about it.  Interesting... ^^

If you have a starter account on another region it does indeed let you
switch between regions with the new launcher, very useful addition!
Not that I really use my US starter account (I've logged in about
twice lol), but it's handy to be able to actually access it without
having to mess with realmlist files, anyway. Seems a little variable
if it's visible in the menu or not, but most of the time I can see it
(can't right now as battle.net seems well and truly broken this
morning, refuses to log in at all, lucky you can still login via the
old login system too)

Didn't think of checking the forum, may well do that sometime then,

I dont have another copy of WoW if this is what you mean.  "Starter 
Edition" was greyed out in the dropdown menu while EU, America and Asia 
enabled.  Odd..

Weird, maybe just connected to the battle.net problems today, it's
well messed up in Europe at least, so perhaps it was offering to
create a starter account for you and letting you pick a region for it
- I had that region menu once, no idea why tbh, but it went back to
normal after I selected Europe. Wouldn't surprise me if I now have a
starter account in Europe as a result; I've just never checked!
