5.4 after a two month break

I quitted the game in late august just before 5.4 landed due to some irl
issues. A few hours ago I relogged, got a short briefing about the new
content from friends and guildies, did a quick run through the first
three bosses in the new raid in lfr (and ended second in dps meter in
recount while wearing overall ilvl530 5.3 gear!). I also discovered the
new island southeast of panda world and blasted a few mobs there. Oh
well. Vale looked quite different.
So. A new raid, a new island and some major changes to Vale. Just like
in 5.2 and 5.3. The good news is that the endless vp farming seems to
have stopped unless you need upgrades ofc.

Is that it? Have I missed some nice hankypanky here?

I'm asking as I feel I'm getting too old for this game. :/

Yes, it's 5.4, have a watch of the patch trailer and it explains what
happened there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slzQOyS5TqQ

If you do the questline to enter the Vale now, you'll see all the NPCs
now talk about letting us in to help heal it after the destruction
caused by other outsiders, nice bit of updating there.

>So all those dailies are gone?

Most of them, which isn't too surprising when the questgivers are now
corrupted and bosses in SoO ;-) Some remain, head up to Mistfall
Village and the camp nearby to find what's left. Most mobs in the zone
give rep now so you can still get rep (probably faster than before
tbh, since you're not gated by dailies), but the old rep-based chain
is gone.

Hehe :-) I like how they've done the changes alongside the storyline,
makes it feel very real, after when we started out the Vale was the
promised land kinda place, and now... we wrecked it. Oops. Like in
Jade Forest when we wrecked the Jade Serpent's new form, it shows that
we (or our factions) can have a real impact and permanent effect on a
place, and it sure brings it home when you see all that destruction
every time you step outside your faction's Shrine!

Kinda hoping we'll have a minor patch 5.5 in a bit where we can start
off the healing process though, doesn't even have to be much, just a
bunch of druids and shaman hanging out, maybe some quests to get them
supplies to help out, quests to kill some Sha remnants, that kinda
thing. I'd like to play some small part in fixing the massive mess we
(or Garrosh, but still, we helped...) made of that place!

I doubt it....It took until patch 5.3 of *THIS* expansion to get the
front gate of Stormwind fixed from Deathwing. They still havn't done
anything with the old barracks....Just a burned out hulk, which I don't
quite understand. I know it had/has a questline and story with the
Kings son, that helped get you to the level 84-85 questing zone, but I'm
sure they can do something with it.

Everything else got fixed, redesigned, etc...Why does SW get the back
burner....Must be a crappy, yet powerful union the workers in SW have....

So Chances of the Vale getting fixed soon is pretty slim if I had to
gamble....Probably by patch 7.4 :)

True, although ofc, storylinewise, it's probably realistic. Sure there
was something in the story about it costing a small fortune to rebuild
SW after the Scourge invasion, that's why there's so many homeless in
Westfall. So probably after that they didn't really have the money to
rebuild it *again* after Deathwing passed by :-P

Hehe I guess we'll see. I did think they said Dustwallow was supposed
to be getting redone in about patch 5.1 to make the Theramore crater
permanent and storylines reflect it, but that hasn't materialised yet
either...

Actually it *could* be a phased area until you have done the questline
there. After that it could be reversed to normal just like it once was
before Deathwing. :)

Unions for the win! ^^
