It's pretty easy to level a pet up to 25, so for ME it wouldn't
make any difference.  But I'm sure there's others that are the
opposite.

Count me in the group that absolutely loathed the idea of battle
pets in the beginning, but eventually found myself addicted!  That's
the part of upcoming 5.4 that I'm most looking forward to
to; warcraftpets.com says that something like 34 new battle pets
have been datamined from PTR, jeez.

I'm the same, plus they're always priced miles higher for lvl 25 so I
prefer buying a lvl 1 instead, lot less effort to level a pet up than
it is to earn 10k+ gold to get a prelevelled one!

Me too, my initial thoughts was it sounded stupid, but I did like
collecting pets in general so gave it a go and now I'm hooked,
absolutely love hunting down the rarer pets. Just wish I had better
luck with the raid drops...

There is Pet Guru for the iPhone & iPad. It's ok, but not real useful.

I don't know of any other battle pet apps.

I too thought the battle pet thing would be lame, but was quickly sucked 
in. I have to say I may have over did it, I haven't battled my pets in 
months.
