Worst LFR ever...

So, picture the scene, LFR ToT part 2, we enter, one tank leaves
(sigh), 2nd tank pulls the first pack of bats while we wait, all as
normal... until, a million more bats join in and rocks start falling
from the ceiling... Tortos has joined in. We were miles away from him,
don't think anyone had even jumped down to the same level at that
stage, so no idea how that happened, anyway, wipe, and we try again.

Next trash pack pulled, few seconds later, bam, Tortos joins in. Huh?
We get a few of the bats down before wiping. Try again, same result,
meanwhile we're all watching really carefully to see what could
possibly be causing it, nothing obvious comes to mind. The next try we
all stayed up on the ledge, so as to be absolutely nowhere near the
boss... he still aggroed! At least by this time only a bit of the
trash was left, we went for the boss after the trash, very scrappy
kill, bu, at least he died. Phew.

So, onto Megaera, we at least survived the trash, but reaching the
boss, nobody went too near her but she aggroed anyway, before everyone
was present. Not again... wipe. Ressed up, aggro despite nobody being
closer than where you jump out of the lake, wipe. Ffs... after a
couple more attempts we at least got almost everyone alive before some
poor person jumped out of the lake at the usual spot and bam, boss
aggro - everyone shouted at him but tbh I don't think it was really
his fault; he didn't seem any closer than anyone else should be
exiting the water.

So this time enough of us were alive to go for it, and urgh, what a
rubbish group. One healer was afk (and dead, he had the cheek to
demand a battle res mid fight when we'd tried to res him 4 times
before the pull... he didn't get one lol), another was really really
low on healing done, and the other four of us did our best but
eventually ran oom due to idiotic dps. If it's possible to drop an aoe
in the group, they did, stand in front of the boss for rot armor,
don't move for cinders (and I was impressed, nobody dispelled early,
every time they lived to the end of the debuff before dropping it in
the middle of the raid so no blame at all on the healers!)... and for
all the no-moving, a lot were really low dps (at least one was afk).
So eventually with healers oom, we wiped.

Ressed up in what should be a safe spot, nobody near boss but still,
aggro, wipe. Tried again, same. Several more no-pull aggro wipes
later, most of us gave up and quit. What a nightmare!

Still got no idea what the heck was causing that aggro - either, it
was a very strange bug, or, somebody's found a novel way to grief,
using something so long range that we can clearly see nobody is within
40 yards of the boss (frankly much further away), nor are any
projectiles visible in the air, nothing. I really don't get it, bug
reported it but with no ideas what's caused it (and no similar reports
on the forums, I'm not sure my report will help a lot! Very much hope
I never experience that again anyway; thankfully most of the group was
friendly and sensible, so I stuck with it far longer than I would've
done with tons of bitching and sniping at each other, but still,
frustrating to say the least.

Sounds like a griefer to me; I've noticed quite an uptick in them
the last few weeks for some reason, maybe cause the kids are out of
school for the summer, I dunno.

I wish I'd hurry up and get the tier armor pieces to drop to finish
my 4 set so I can be done with these. I quite enjoyed LFR when it
came out for Deathwing in Cata, those were fun to me. ToT not at all.
Long and boring with the amount of trash to clear, and the boss fights
aren't all that inspiring either. When the insults start flying from
the elitists because of a wipe, it makes the experience barely
tolerable. But I'll keep pushing through this necessary evil.

(Every set of patch notes it seems they claim they've upped the chances
of winning something on an encounter, but I sure havn't seen this. Glad
Mogu Runes of Fate don't take up inventory space cuz they're damn
worthless!)

Yeah, probably was, given if it was a bug I'd expect the forums to be
in uproar from other groups encountering it. I'm just confused how it
was done, since the entire raid was watching carefully after the first
couple of times - only time we saw anyone possible to blame was the
mage on Megaera, but tbh I don't think he went any close than anyone
else did, and he wasn't close on any of the other wipes. If it's
griefing, there's a new exploit out there I guess, to achieve so many
wipes without anyone catching sight of who did it :-/

I still like it, probably because most of it is new to me; thankfully
I haven't met many of the eitists lately (I was so glad there were
none in tonight's group; a wipefest is bearable when people sound
friendly and interested in a solution, rather than sarcastic sniping
all over the place, which just makes me see red frankly; I'd have left
after 2-3 wipes if it'd gone that way rather than putting up with it
for probably about 10!

Hehe, it's slightly improved but usually on content I'm not doing any
more! Would love a boost to Secrets of the Empire droprate; I don't
need anything earlier than the final LFR but I do need those secrets
for the legendary chain... 7/20 atm, the last one took about 8
attempts to get, and I've had another 5 tries since it dropped...

Thats odd as you should be out of range of the boss. So nobody should
be able to even cast a weak dot on him on that distance.
Personally I would have left the raid at that point as it was obvious
the dungeon was buggy. :)

Sounds much more of a case of one of the "pro-raiders" being a bored fuck up and griefing.

Interestingly, just experienced it again - 5 successive wipes on
Megaera, people blamed a monk's pet but it happened twice more after
he got kicked. Nobody anywhere near boss, no projectiles showing, only
people shown as doing dmg were a shaman (lightning shield) and the
tank who attempted to get control on one wipe, so... hmm. I don't get
it.

Really gets annoying when you want to get secrets, but screw it, I got
Ji'Kun last time I queued, and Tortos this time, Megara can wait for
next week, coming to hate that fight now....

Curses... just done every other boss in the place and I am now on
19...! Oh well, won't kill me to wait to Wednesday and do fights I
dislike rather less than Megaera :-P Cannot wait to never need to do
that segment again; I shall just buy Ji-Kun's hatchling rather than
keep farming for the drop lol.

Hmmm - Unusual...I find that fight one of the more easy ones of the
raids. The only wipes were from getting to the "staging" point after
the trash. Many, including myself, like to jump down the waterfall and
swim, where you automatically pop out at the staging point. Wipes there
have been because some ding-dong decides to come down the other way and
drag trash when only 1/4 of the raid has assembled.

As far as the fight, it's actually quite boring as dps. One tank takes
the blue, one on the green...Stand in one spot (usually marked)
pew-pew...when it dies, slide over to the other, pew-pew....back and
forth. Healing it is also usually not to bad *if* dps stand grouped up
like they are supposed to for aoe heals during the big hit parts *AND*
if the person marked for cinders runs out when they get it *AND* if some
moron doesn't have an itchy trigger finger on the despell and end up
dispelling the cinders right in group. Those are the only challenges on
that fight. Everyone stay in group, get cinders run out, and only
dispell after the person is clear. Those have been the only times I
have lost people as a healer...cinders or some idiot messing things up
with the cinders...

Bad luck I guess for you....My bad luck on that instance always came
with the turtle. Took forever to get though that when if first came
out, and even now - the only reason I've had groups NOT wipe was because
many people are overgeared now. Many succesful attempts now would have
been wipes a few months ago.

Of all the 4 ToT bosses there is still one that I hold me breath for
that seems like a 50-50 shot on whether there is a wipe, and that is the
eyeball (first boss on ToT, part 3). There are always a bunch of people
that just can't get though that maze. This is one case where chances
of a fights success , IMO, seems to be increased based on a players PC.
If you have a bit of lag or low graphics, the path on the maze could
be very difficult to navigate and there is very little room for error.....

Yeah, seen a couple that way, but these wipes... these are the boss
aggroing and aoe spamming us while we're nowhere near her, nor ready
to engage. Seems to be either a bug or an exploit (I'm guessing an
exploit being used for griefing), as I found a thread on the official
forums where a couple of others reported it too - doesn't seem to be
many people affected enough to bother commenting, so perhaps I've just
been really unlucky ending up in two runs that have had this happen!

Oh, cinders is fun... also people standing in front of the poison boss
to dps :-P I've taken to targetting the person with cinders so I can
see on my minimap where they are before dispelling, sadly other
healers have not all figured that one out yet and sometimes it doesn't
go well!

Heh, I've never had trouble with him except the one time where someone
was constantly aggoring him. Biggest challenge is healing when you
spend 90% of your time flying thanks to turtles everywhere, I've come
to the conclusion that while I use Inner Fire for nearly every fight,
the mana reduction on instants from Inner Will is worth it for this
one, since all I can do is spam instants (and occasionally attempt to
get a PoH or Divine Hymn off, but usually a turtle messes that up for
me).

I've only done him a few times and urgh, yeah, I'm sometimes one of
those who goes splat still, the maze is way hard to actually find for
me, and I tend to follow other people and only realise when it's too
late that they have no more clue than I do... I'm hoping practice will
help me but most the time I just can't see a clear spot, and spots
that look almost clear (only a tiny bit of purple) still hurt.
Toughest fight in the place I think, my dslike of Megaera is down to
my bad experiences with griefers causing wipefests rather than it
being a hard fight in itself!

I just watch the group...You can see the cinders on the player as well
as the little quote talking bubble above his head that say "cinders on
so-and-so"...I just watch him run out and when he's clear, dispell. 95%
of the time, they will run behind the group, but have had others run
towards the bosses...not sure why, but as long as they leave the group
its all good. The interesting thing is seeing the delay from when they
get it, to when they move. Sometimes it's a second, which could be
either their lag or before they realize they have it. The others your
waiting and waiting... Funny thing is you just *know* at a particular
time before it goes off that the person is clueless, and you say it in
your head that he's not going to move and you are already backing out of
the group... :)

heh - One fight I don't mind being a resto druid. Doesn't bother me
when the turtles hit me and I fly. 95% of my spells are instant dots,
which I can still cast while popping up and down after getting hit. I
don't even bother moving for them unless I'm planning on using my
tranquility. Once I set up shop where I can reach both tanks, I only
move for the ceiling collapses (blue circles). lol

I should have clarified that my problems with the turtle were when it
first came out on my mage. Doing that fight on arcane is a PITA (Pain
in the arse). However, with my gear being reforged for arcane, I've
found it makes little difference switching to frost without reforging
for that spec...I get close to the same numbers as frost with gear
reforged for arcane than I do just staying arcane....

It seems not many people realize that the 3 trash mobs at the beginning
of the dungeon are what I call little training grounds to help you see
what your supposed to be looking for. Each one casts a little purple
circle that drags about 5 players into. It is a mini version of the big
one that comes during the boss fight, and there is a path that develops
for the players in there to follow while they dps the center eye thing.
Players on the outside of this cannot dps the target or heal the
players inside unless they touch the wall, which will drag them in too.
I sometimes jump in when I see the players taking a ton of damage and
they look like they are going to die, so I can heal them

I suggest that the next time you run that instance, you voluntarily jump
into all three. You'll be able to practice three times before the main
event.... :)

I don't have speech bubble on, so find it easiest to target them,
since it shows as debuff on the screen - never thought of using speech
bubbles to locate them! But tbh I find the spell effects and stuff on
screen way overwhelming, sometimes I can't even find my own mouse
pointer in the chaos, so if I can use an easy way on my UI instead of
looking at the mess in the fight itself, I do :-)

Haha yeah, when I see the one who's had rot armor a few times already
get cinders, I expect a nice big puddle of fire in the middle of the
melee. It's a rather funny way of spotting the AFKers too, those who
stay in the group, till the group moves, drop the puddle (sometimes
I've had groups where every healer pays attention and doesn't dispel
the idiot that didn't move, so it lasts the ful duration), and then
still don't move lol. I always find myself hoping nobody heals them,
but I guess aoe heals keep them up...

You're lucky, I am very envious of druids on that fight! Although I
guess pally and shaman healers are jealous of me too, since I do have
a few decent instants! Most my spells are instants tbh, but I do like
to be able to PoH, drop a greater heal on the tank, etc etc, and the
turtles always mess that up for me lol.

Ahh, I see - must be horrible for any ranged who rely on cast time
spells, I bet!

Ahh, I never realised that, and wasn't sure if you *could* jump in or
not, so always just stood around feeling left out on those :-P I'll
give it a try next time then, can only help me, since I suck with the
maze!

I've never understood why ppl are going that way. You have to kill the
single 23m hp trash on the ledge anyway before you can progress to ji'kun.
It's a little complicated to explain. But if a single player runs
through the single trash and make a jump to the plateau where you fight
Megaera he can pick aggro from the this single trash and be pulled back
to the ledge anyway just like when a DK uses the grip ability. This
will slow down the whole raid and the dead player cant be ressed after
he is dead due to LoS from a healer's point. I have seen this a few
times in LFR and this area seems to be buggy somehow. The path through
the waterfall is still not the most obvious way for many players. And I
still hope Blizzard will fix this by redesigning the area here. But as
it is now and with lots of non-raiding players around who plays maybe
4-5 hours hours a week I prefer to go the most obvious way and kill
trash between the third DOOOONGCRASHBOOMBANG and Megaera. :)

TBH, the main reason I like going that way on my druid, is that it's the
one time in any instance I've done on a regular basis that after the
last gong where after I jump in I can change into my orca, swim past
everyone else under water and pop out as a fish, while in air transform
into a tree and plant myself. :) lol

I think people go that way so they can start the boss fight faster
without having to deal with the time of the extra mobs, exp those
looking for gear or who have already completed the last boss and they
are getting Secrets of the Empire, etc, etc. After that boss they leave
and don't have to deal with the trash anyway. The main reason I think
its preferred is that it seems like less trash that way. When you come
down the falls, do the boss fight and many times you can avoid the
wanderers in the mushroom pack and just deal with the one or two larger
trash after you climb the hill (before the cave entrance). When you
come down the cliff as a 25 man raid, it seems every single trash mob in
the area gets agrro'd by someone....
