Molten Front bag patterns.......

What a walk in the desert. My tailor just finished second main quest at
Molten Front where you have to hand in another 150 marks to the
questgiver. I have spent around 14 days of farming all 300 marks. Now
I need another 125 marks just for the recipe. Well. Another 5 days of
farming and I can get the recipe for the 36 slot gem bag.

So I started checking up the mats for it. Dreamcloth seems to still has
a 7 day CD (I hope Blizz has changed this). I need 4 for just 1 bag.
28 days for just one bag!?! Well I can skip the CD by farming heroics
in Cata. I need 4 Chaos Orb for a single dreamcloth. So I at least
have to farm 4 cata HCs as the drop of those orbs aint guaranteed. I
thought I saw a gold cow in making those bags as I havent seen any 36
slot gem bags on AH for ages. Now I only see a time sink. Why did I
start on this? -.-

Aaaaaaaaargh!

As I recall, there's 5 ways of making Dreamcloth (using each type of
volatile: water, earth, fire air, life), which don't share cd, so you
can make 5 each week, without orb farming. So just takes a ton of
materials to make 1 bag, not 28 days :-)

Ooohhhh! That helps a lot! Thanks, Catriona. :) I have several stacks
of volatiles in my bank so I shouldnt run out of mats in seconds.

True - But those mats go fast....If I recall correctly, think it's 40
volatile (of your choice) and then a ton of embersilk cloth, which have
to made into bolts (can't remember the exact number). Depends on your
realm, but with not as many people in the cata zones, the mats are
harder to come by on the AH iff you need to buy. On my realm, the
volatiles are about the same cost as they were during cata, however the
embersilk cloth is wicked high. A lot of tailors make embersilk bags
(which sell for nice profit) due to the lack of a MoP cloth bag (other
than the high priced Royal Satchel). Embersilk bags go for a more
affordable ~250-500g on my realm due to the embersilk cloth price, while
I can still get ~5-7K for a Satchel.

On the subject of bag, ironically, the netherweave (outland) bags are
still the most popular. The mats are very cheap on the AH and so are
the bags. Frostweave bags are very expensive, and frankly the most
cumbersome bags to make needing imbued frostweave (an extra step) and
lack of frostweave on the AH....And forget that other Wrath bag...forgot
the name, but it still has a one week cooldown to make and it the most
expensive bag with regards to mats, and is absolutely not worth it....

Yeah. But a 1 hour cata luck pot, a trip to Deepholm and heavy gnoll
farming with your tailor + guild perk == problem with mats almost
solved. I have done that a few times and the amount of volatiles and
especially embersilk is hilarous + you earn 1.5-2k gold just by looting
gold and vendoring greys, greenies and blues in one hour. :)
I just wish it was possible to farm the chaos orbs like we can farm
motes of harmony in Panda World.

I have made my gold by selling glyphs on AH since I returned to the game
in september last year. The competition is sparse on my realm and we
are just 2-3 ppl undercutting each other atm. But the huge amount of
glyphs you have to keep up running all the time is exhausting and
time-consuming like hell and Im getting tired of having +300 auctions
running 24/7.
So Im looking for other markets so I leveled a JCer recently and atm I
sell 1-3 cut primal diamonds and a few gems everyday without much
undercutting. The royal satchels sells well too. But 12 imperials for
a single bag... I keep the satchels I make for my alts and give some of
them to a few close friends in the guild when possible. Frostweave is
easy to farm as well in western part of Icecrown. Aoe, loot, mount up,
find next group, aoe... :)

True - but my post was simply on the subject of the AH, not farming. I
personally don't and won't farm mats for stuff to sell on the AH. I
will when I have to if I'm leveling a profession or am in desperate need
of something, but generally don't go farming. I have limited time to
get what I need done or want to do, but that's just me. I play the AH
when I'm there or if I'm selling something and have made a descent
amount of gold....enough to sustain any gems/enchant purchases I need
for gear upgrades, and have a modest ~120K on my main not really trying.

I make and sell a Royal Satchel every time I get 12 imperials, as I have
no other use for
them unless I get a design to drop in a regular 10 man raid that I can
use them for.
Ironically, I do not own one royal satchel...lol. I find the Embersilks
are just fine for
me, and would rather have the easy gold than the extra 8 slots...again -
just me personally, which is the nice thing about this game....Something
for everyone. :)

Indeed. :) My playstyle is maybe a little bit different. I share my
gold with another friend with BS as prof. We bought all the clothie/BS
496 patterns very cheap when possible as we had some raiding issues in
our guild at that moment. So when somebody sold cheap blood spirits in
/trade we bought them, crafted some 496 items and made a fortune on AH.
We spent a little bit more than 100k on those bloods, maybe 50k on
patterns and made a 300-350k profit. It was a fun time while it lasted. ;)

Btw. I need your opinion on this. How much should/could I charge for a
36 slot gem bag on AH? The next biggest gem bag is a 24 slot bag from
Shattrath (which dont sell at all!). ^^

It varies by realm...

ok - going to give you a cool site I use for finding what to list things
for if there is no history:

https://theunderminejournal.com/

Pick your realm and just type in your item. The site scans the AH all
day and lets you know what the prices are, and what they last sold for
on your realm...or anyone elses....

What's even cooler, is type you toons name into the box and look at the
data that turns up. If you are really into the AH, you could swim in
here. lol

After checking, I see that 3 people undercut my Royal Satchel since
yesterday... :(

lmao

Yes, thanks for the site. Bookmarked it, too. Just took a quick
glance but it looks neat. Love that it'll show what the black market
has for offer without having to fly over there :)

Glad I could help...it is a pretty cool site. I only stumbled on it and
started using it last last year. I should probably use it more than I
do, and would have if I had found it before MoP dropped as I've had
barely enough time to play my toons in game, but it's my definite "go
to" site when I need to know what to list something for that has no AH
history. Even the articles/blog contributers are a good read. :)

There's a link there for the site for European realms as well....

Okeeeh... I have given up farming the orbs. I made my first 36 slot
gem bag yesterday (woohoo) and I still have plenty of volatiles left in
stock. But I skipped Cata completely so I decided to test DM on heroic.
Absolutely doable with a well-geared lock (ilvl 501) and a void tank.
It was fun and I got some achs. But the time spent on a single orb is
definitely not worth it as I need to farm 12 orbs for a single bag. The
orbs goes for 150-200g on my realm so buying up orbs is not an option
unless they drop to like 40-50g like on other realms.
So I stick to the volatiles once a week and farm the missing ones when I
have the time. And I repeat; A cata luck pot and one hour of farming
gnolls in Deepholm yields maybe 50-60 different volatiles and sh*tloads
of embersilk cloth for AH. Thats fine for me. :)

Btw. I farmed Deepholm yesterday. Cata luck pot + guild perk + tailor
prof on my lock yielded around 200 embersilk bolts (or 1000 clothes!) in
one hour. I needed 40 bolts for the dreamcloth so I have decided to AH
the rest. Thats 8 stacks and a single stack goes for 250-300g. I make
4 auctions with 5 bolts in each auction all the time so I dont flood the
market with the risk of dumping the prices in mind. Hopefully they will
sell well. :)
