My realm just hit stage 2 yesterday morning. So after yesterday's
dailies my lock mounted his waterwalking dreadsteed and started riding
around the island. Most of the rocks are actually climbable despite
their steepness and somewhere northeast of the horde camp along the
northern coastline I found a plateau. I went up there by jumping upon a
cliff, found a cave, went inside and killed some 600k hp mobs. Suddenly
I was standing in the areas that gets unlocked with stage 3, 4 and 5. :)
A guildie joined and we ended up exploring and clearing the area, killed
a few 4.7M hp mobs and got a single ach from one of them.

I havent bothered with pointing out the position of the secret/exploited
cave on a map, but Im sure you can find it when you go along the
northern coastline or by using google. but I'm pretty sure this is or
was not intended from Blizz.
Anyhoo! I got the same feeling as when I succeeded in wallclimbing to
the airport above Ironforge (+ the funny caves where you jumped out of
the map into pink world!) and hacking/jumping through the blocked
entrance to Mount Hyjal years ago. :)

I wouldn't worry about it...They were talking about it on chat the first
night it opened a week ago and people were in there. In addition, it's
not quite like the airport, or the secret entrance to underneath
stormwind that could be used to get from the waste tunnel in the water
out front to the docks where you pop out of the wall. Those were areas
Bliz had no intention of you being in and people were 'punished' for
being there if caught. Your exploration is an intended area you
eventually will be allowed in. Now, if quests were available that you
could pick up and do that were only locked away by the fact the boundary
was up, and you could get a head start or something, then I think
they'd have a problem. Personal opinion of course. :)

I remember there were lots of rumors about Blizzard banning players who
explored the exploits as there were no real hacks in the game. Just bad
design by their landscape designers. And I wonder why they let so many
years passing by before they actually fixed them. I still remember when
I succeeded in getting by the wall to the basement underneath IF (wasnt
it the dwarven king's secret?) 4-5 years ago. A little wallclimbing and
a mage-blink in the right second or such and you were in. Quite
difficult as I remember it. :)

Hadn't done that one. I did go underneath SW though. You had to swim
into the left hand tunnel in the moat out front and jump up to the left.
If you hit it just right you fell into what was called the Stormwind
basement. Just a big open area, fairly well lit and if you looked
straight up, you saw all of SW just as you would expect to see if it was
on a piece of glass. You could then run across and run out of a wall in
either the trad district and one in the harbor. You could also get in
from the trade ditrict hole if you jumped just right and had to get
yourself up on a lighting sconce if I remember correctly, then walk
right in.

I haven't tried since Wrath, but I can only assume they fixed them when
they redesigned the whole castle and old kingdom when cata came out. I
read they had to do a lot as the areas were not designed for flying and
many things were set up like movie props with only front and sides if
they weren't supposed to be seen from other angles....

Okay. I just checked the wall in the throneroom in IF and the door is
now open. 'Old' Ironforge is completely redesigned and much larger
since I entered it through the glitch in the wall. :)

It's been that way since MoP, at least. There are even quests that
take you down there.

First major patch in Cata I think, Children Weeks quests take you down
there to see King Magni (Horde version takes you to Thunder Bluff to
see Cairne's funeral - at least, it did, be interesting if he has a
funeral *every* year!)
