me and some experience guild members tried a challenge mode for dungeon
today. All our gear was brought back to around 460 and the damage was
immensely upped. I was out of mana almost immediately. After a few tries
we did find a place we could stand for a while but then the adds got
aggroed by dps and again instant death. I did not expect it to be that
hard. Just to check we did a heroic after and there our group did well
and we quickly finished it without incidence. How did you experience
these challenges?

Padwan, you have forgotten what it is like to be undergeared. Do the
dungeon as if your entire group just barely has enough gear to do the
heroic. That is...

1. Crowd control all untanked mobs. If that means you are facing six
trash mobs, CC five of them. The reason is that, when undergeared,
your tank/healer combo cannot handle damage coming from more than one
source. Five CC sounds like a lot, but you can always...

1a. Have your tank and/or healer help CC. Shaman can hex, death
knights can chain.
1b. Have your dps CC multiple mobs. Rogues can sap/blind, hunters can
trap/sleep.
1c. Roots are CC for melee mobs. Mages have nova, druids have root.
1d. Rotate cooldown CCs. Like when pally hammer breaks, have the
priest fear.
1e. Slow is an effective melee CC. Nothing wrong with tag team kiting
kills of untanked, slowed mobs.

2. Interrupt all spells. Tanks/healers cannot handle damage spikes, so
use shock, silence, counterspell, etc, whenever possible.

3. Pull back, into pre-cleared safe zones, to dramatically reduce
patrol aggro.

4. Kill the least amount of trash as you can safely get away with.
Your safe zone may require clearing an extra pack or two, but you
rarely have to clear more than 50% of the trash mobs.

5. Enchant/gem/reforge for defense, like mana regen, health, block.
Being undergeared is more about survival than dps.

6. Useful to bring a hybrid class, either tank or healer (usually off
healer is better, but some dungeons favor off tanks).

hmm, your so right. I must admit our tank went in the way he does
usually when overgeared, pulling lots of mobs at once. We did not cc
anyone and we did not get potions in advance. I hope that one day they
want to try again and i'll take your advice.
