I have no idea about the inner workings of wine. I've only been using linux for about a month. Acting on information I found online, I copied the entire WoW folder tree from my Windows setup to the proper place in my linux .wine drive_c folder. The game works perfectly, except for the fact that I have no addons. All files and folders in the copied tree have rwx permissions. It's a total mystery to me.
