It would add a bit of unpredictability to endgames. : On another score, I think the inability to build walls in single player : games is lame. Towers are ok, but let's face it: as long as Warcraft : games can get, it would be interesting to build better defenses. (Which : would also require a patch to have the enemy smash walls, obviously.) : So many fine criticisms have come through the group in the last few weeks : without a word of reply from Blizzard. Ok, it's the holidays, and : they've been working like crazy for months. I just hope that when : BlizzrdEnt returns, he has some record of what we've been saying. : Richard A bit unrealistic. I doubt there is a thriving market for used barracks or Temples of the Damned in decimated warzones on the edge of civilization. One of the best strategic elements of Warcraft II is trying to figure out how to maximise the amount of gold you start out with and trying to establish outposts to take advantage of remote mines. Also, since the computer doesn't cheat in Warcraft II (Use the code "on screen" to watch him if you don't believe me) he will eventually run out of gold and have to establish outposts. (A life saver in Human 14) In regards to the inability to build walls in single player mode, this option wasn't included due to the fact that the AI is simply too stupid to figure out a path around them. In fact, in Warcraft I if you walled your city in completely and there was no way to get in the computer would sit his troops outside your walls and never do anything. My strategy to build wall-like areas is to build my farms in such a way as to block off any pathways to your town, leaving a small pathway to allow troops through. Intersperse your farms with cannon towers to provide defense. -Pagan
