I'd like to see the math on that. In special relativity, with v>c, you
take the square root of a negative number, so tachyons wouldn't have
negative time dilation, but imaginary. The value of the square root is
negative or positive, depending, so the math by itself doesn't forbid
negative dilation with v<c.

        time dilation:  1/sqrt(1 - v^2/c^2)

If v<c, v^2/c^2<1, and so the root is real. If v>c, the root is imaginary.
