So a while after everyone else I've finally watched this, now the DVD is out - found I enjoyed it more than I expected! :-) Yes, quite a lot of things have been changed in the details, but the main essence is familiar, and the characters are mostly similar to the main universe, even if their actions differ. I actually liked the addition of a queen to the lore; that was a good addition as ingame we never do know who Varian's mother was, would be nice if they made her canon, put a memorial to her and Llane in SW or something, just to get her name in there. So once I set aside my knowledge of the "real" story I could still enjoy it as an alternate universe version of Warcraft, pretty enjoyable watch, the CGI wasn't so obvious as to irritate me, and I loved seeing all the people and places and the little details; I'll have to rewatch it to pick up everything I missed on the first watch through. Pity the Chris Metzen scene didn't make it into the final edit though, that would've been really cool, at least it's in the deleted scenes though. Only thing that really grated on me was King Llane's appearance; he just didn't look regal enough for a king lol, his face doesn't fit at all. I know in real life people can't choose their looks to fit their job but in a movie it can be done! The draenei and high elves could've looked a bit prettier too, considering their ingame appearances, but it's a fairly minor quibble, given they had such brief roles anyway. Hope there can be a sequel at some point; there's a lot of interesting stories that could be done, plus I'll be interested to see how they handle the aftermath of some of the changes to the story; most things ended up right (the right people died, if at the wrong time or to the wrong hands), but a few were very different, particularly the ending (avoiding spoilers in case anyone's not seen it and wants to).
