Hope this one doesn't persist for long, it's a pain! Wow is full of bugs but since most can be worked around they become part of the 'making wow work properly' minigame and sink below attention. I was grinding and went to Timeless to show a godson the graphics and gameplay. Not a lot of interest when told the download requirements and the huge upfront time demand to actually get to endgame, whatever that is. The sky, the waves, the giant wing shadows all the way to the horizon, destroys the illusion and makes all the wave rendering GPU power pretty useless, I usually ignore that. Showing them the atmospheric light, the sun on the tiles, the shadows, quite pretty. Grinding on a tiger, ummmm, it is halfway up a hill and half in it , it is stuck and can't move. I don't usually notice but when someone points it out for a while it gives a new perspective, a 10 year old game demanding 20 times the processing/rendering power of the original has sunk it all into atmospheric graphics but has so many other bugs. I don't mind sprite graphics, I can quite happily ignore it and don't need the HD animations. I still play old games that use nothing but text block graphics. Most of the time I am just looking at text or bar graph countdowns, health, cast time etc. I quite like the standout border on mouseover, makes it look rubbish but is helpful and can be turned off. All these bug-lets are around, -everywhere-, we just don't notice or we work around them because mostly they aren't roadblocks. The objective today is to change [800 neutral] to [1 friendly] every thing else is just a blur of HD 100hz rendered pixels.
