Why do so many people go for DPS?

It's well known that dps get very long queues for dungeons and LFR. 
As a healer, my main rarely has to wait more than 2-3 minutes for 
a heroic dungeon, or 10 minutes for an LFR - and this is on a 
moderately populated server. You'd think more people would try the 
other parts of the game to avoid the wait.

Is it that people think healing and/or tanking is too hard? 
Too much responsibility? Less fun?

I use ret for scenarios and dailies, but there's no wait for those. 
Now that you can specify a loot specialization, you can collect dps 
gear while healing or tanking.
