In theory, this is probably a good idea, trying to get some people to at least think about tanking a PUG. For me personally, I don't see it working long term. I tank on my paladin and have a druid which will be 85 soon and also be tanking. My guild is small, on most nights less than 8 people on (unless scheduled raids are on). But even then, I now can do exactly ONE heroic a day where I still get something out of it. Thankfully, with the 7 heroics/week plan this will get better a lot. Anyways, whenever I want to do a heroic, I will ask in guild chat and get at least 2-3 competent guild mates going with me. Why on earth would I go to a full PUG? Lots of times I will even be in a group with one of our other tanks, which "burns" them for the random population. I suspect this is true for lots of tanks. When I don't feel like tanking or are on my priest I will often queue up without guild mates if no other tanks are on, since the long wait times are hard to synchronize (do I abort my 30 min queue "just" to pick up another guild DPS? One competent DPS, in this case ME is enough to ensure success in most heroics nowadays). IF i think about it, a am contributing to the tank shortage in PUGs a lot this way, and many tanks will have the same experience. For me, this might change with the rewards, maybe I will do a few full PUGs if I can get valor points AND the reward bag. However, ditching my guild mates/ friends for that reward doesn't sound too likely. Moreover, I don't care about gold. There would have to be 500+ gold in a run to at least be competitive with other ways to earn gold and I have more than I will need for a long time. Flasks are just more gold. I AM a pet collector, but already have most, will have to see which pets exactly are the reward. The mounts are probably the most interesting part. However this very much depends on the drop rate. If its comparable to the original source of the mounts, what's the point. In the time to run a heroic with the average 4 random people, I can do Sethekk Halls, Strat and MGT solo, probably faster. This is kind of a catch-22, since a higher drop rate will a) reduce the perceived value of said mounts and b) ensure that any tank will get 3 mounts and drop out of LFD again soon. So I can see that reward might work to get some tanks into LFD, but right now I can't see which reward would actually get ME back in there for good. I have to say that the few times I DO tank a full PUG it's usually far from as bad as a lot of people say. There's just no point for a geared tank in a guild anymore. regards, Matt
