Help with Warcraft2 lockup

If anyone has had this happen and konws a work-around please post a
reply. The game locks when trying to continue past the victory screen
for human Captain level 6. The CDR light flashes continually but won't
load the next stage. Playing game on 486DX2-50 with 8megs fom DOS.
Have re-installed, turned off music, sound effects and CD audio,
enabled and disabled smartdrive and still get the lock-up.
