Unreal GPF error message

I managed to install Unreal but cannot run it afterwards. I end up with
an error message:

UNREAL caused an invalid page fault in
module <unknown> at 0000:bff711be.

followed by the error message:
"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this
computer".

I've got DirectX-5 installed and have had no problems with any of my other
games (Quake2, JediKnight, Forsaken, Outwars, etc...) using a 3dfx card
(RealVision Flash-3d), 32 MB Ram, and a new 1 GB partition on my
harddrive.

I get the same error message upon trying to run the game in the Safe-Mode.
I've also tried this in High color-16-bit and True-color (32-bit) settings
for the display.

Any other suggestions?

Paul
