Looking for Unreal Demo and/or Full Version

Well, I know this sounds really lame, but I'm a disabled mainframe
programmer that has nothing better to do all day than surf the net and play
PC games. I am looking for Unreal... My PC is a 1.66 MHz Celeron with 256M
of RAM and I am running Win XP Pro Svc. Pack 2. I am looking for any older
version of Unreal, and I don't mind if all you have is the free Demo
version. My PC runs Quake 3 with little or no problem(s), and I know that
Unreal was written using the Quake 3 engine, and I used to have a copy of
the Unreal Demo on my ex's PC. Yes, she even took that... LOL

I know that I am probably breaking the rules of this newsgroup with such a
blatantly honest and corny appeal, but I have little or nothing to lose...
If you do have the full version, maybe I have something that you would like
in trade. I know... I probably have nothing that you don't already have,
but I am more than willing to offer what few games that I do have.
Regardless, thanks for reading my request.

It would cost more to send you a CD than the game sells for at EB. Still,
drop me an email at agutgopostal at hotmail dot com and I'll post you my
Unreal Gold. You can trade out for a postcard or two from where you live (I
collect them).

If I remember right, Unreal was written with the first iteration of the
Unreal Engine -
and has pretty big compatibility issues with Windows XP..

The only way to get Unreal 1 (what a classic) working in XP is to install it
and run it through Unreal Tournament 99's frontend.. the program's called
something retro.. or retro something.. gimme a minute and I'll look it up..

ebay for unreal 1 - sure to find an original copy!

best of luck though!! :) -

Yes, it actually runs quite well under XP. The extra RAM that is most XP
boxes helps the game immensely.

Runs super for me with XP Pro SP2 on an AMD system:

FX-62
eVGA 7900GTX SC
2Gb OCZ Plat. Rev. 2

Been playing it since '98. It came free with a 3dFX Voodoo 3500TV card I
bought. Simply an all-time classic.

Here's a link for you:

I'll have to boot to XP Pro 32 bits to try installing Unreal then. I
dug out all my old games I love playing and trying to get them all
running on one rig again. I really miss Unreal and even DN3D :) Quake
is the only one from that period that does run even in x64. All the
others are going to have to install in the 32 bit boot. I never got to
see most of these playing in higher res than 1024x768. Love to see them
in 1600x1200 with everything they got cranked up :))
It's been a long time since I played the Unreal story out!

What is the final patch version for Unreal? I have some old Unreal
stuff on cd, but might not have the final patch. IIRC there weren't
many patches for it in the first place. UT had a few, and I'm sure I
have the final patch for that one.

Take a read at http://www.oldunreal.com/ - lots of good stuff for Unreal.
IIRC the last official patch was 226f but it borked the net code.
