Hi,
I upgraded to an ATI all in wonder radeon 9800 and ive just gone back to
one of my old favourite games unreal, (the original unreal), i had to change
the dispaly device to direct3d and it works fine in windowed mode but when i
switch to ful screen it looks awefull, as if its in 16 colour mode the
dithering and lack of colours is so obvious especialy on castle walls etc.
i tried changing every setting available but no diference although
increasing anti aliasing makes it look better its stil obviously only using
a few colours. ive got latest drivers etc.
i tried unreal tournament and this was the same until i changed from 16 bit
to 32 bit resolution and this solved the problem but there doesnt seem to be
a colour depth setting for unreal, has anyone come acros this or any ideas
how to make it better ?

Patch unreal to the last patch - 226F I think it was, then get the third-party opengl renderers from http://www.oldunreal.com - my dll reports version 2.1.0.7. Incidentally there's info on that site on how to use the detail textures from the second UT CD in Unreal. I can post the relevant sections of my system.ini file if you like. UT, again there are third-party renderers out there - I think the one I ended up using was from http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/ For both Unreal and UT I had very little success with Direct3D rendering, on my AIW9800Pro. -- /mel/
