I won't give up on this. Upon starting Unreal 2, all I get is the spinning disc for a few seconds, unreal2.exe uses around 20mb mem, then stops. I have tried running the atlantis.bat, executing unreal2 with various command line arguments, but have only gotten the one result. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, patching, autoplay/manual start, using another CD device, upgrading video drivers, upgrading directx, but have only gotten the one result. I installed the game off the same CD set. I've seen other people post about this but haven't seen any definite replies. If ANYONE knows what is going on, please give me a hand. I've never even seen the damn game, but I beat Far Cry and need something else to do now. TIA Specs: Asus P4C800 Deluxe P4 3.0GHz 800MHz FSB 512 MB dual-channel PC400 ATI Radeon 9800 XT WD Raptor 36 GB SATA ~ 200GB IDE Liteon 48x CD-RW Toshiba MT-1202 DVD-ROM SB Live! installed, but using onboard audio

After playing Far Cry ... well don't expect too much :\ SoS

Just a wild thought. Have you tried turning OFF HyperThreading in the BIOS? That has helped me run some programs. -- DaveW "Steve G" <steve@tracorp.com> wrote in message news:5b42aaf3.0405041142.7f992c61@posting.google.com... > I won't give up on this. > > > > Upon starting Unreal 2, all I get is the spinning disc for a few > seconds, unreal2.exe uses around 20mb mem, then stops. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. As for the other reply about hyperthreading, I doubt it would be that because there isn't an actual failure, nothing happens at all. It doesn't even get so far as to create unreal2.ini. Anyway, thanks for the help. I read in the notice that the protection won't let you launch the
game if it detects a software like alcohol 120.
Try the nocd from Gamecopyworld and everything will be ok...
