Saved Games Problem

Got a little prob with loading saved games.
After installing a zip drive I had to re-install Unreal because the CD
drive letter changed and the program became confused by this
(understandable, I guess).
After re-installing the game, lo and behold I have no saved games in the
menu under saved games. There -are- however several save game files in the
Save folder in the Unreal directory (which appear to be my saved games).
Is there any way to get those save files working or do I have to start
aaaaallllll the way back at the beginning (which would be very uncool)?
  Thanks for any help.

Yep. Same here, almost. I installed the smallest version first, got to
level 4. Saved my saved game in another dir. Then, reinstalled medium
size installation. Reinserted my saved games (2-5 meg saved game files!!)
and nuttin'..................

I had to restart all over again...............<yawn>

I don't have a solution -- obviously Unreal keeps some info about
saved games somewhere else in addition to what's in the Save file -- I
noticed this when I deleted (intentionally, in Explorer) a couple, but
Unreal still thinks there are saved games there (albein it can't
actually load them) -- how does one delete unwanted saved games???

Our generous host actually came up with a simple, effective solution.
Hopefully you haven't overwritten your old save game files:
Put the save game files you want to use in a safe place. Run a new game,
save in the old slots, then move your old save files into the directory
overwriting the new ones. Load up one of the (what will look like) new save
games and it will be your old save. It will still have the name of the new
one, but who cares? You don't have to go through the first 7 (or however
many) levels all over again.
Thanks to No 1 U No for that tip (don't know why I didn't think of that
myself).

There is command you can type at the shell which lets you start on an
individual map of your choice. Or you can just open the maps folder
and click on the one you want and it loads that level. Just use the
other commands to give yourself the weapons you had at the time. No
cheating now!!
