COMMENTS: I propose the creation of alt.games.unreal, a newsgroup for the exchange of information (but NOT binaries) related to Unreal. "Unreal" is a computer game in the first-person-shooter genre, which was released last Friday (22 May 1998). It is most similar to Quake2, and since many Q2 fans purchased Unreal, there have been a large number of postings to the Q2 newsgroup (alt.games.quake2) over the weekend, and accordingly a growing number of posts objecting to the deluge and urging the creation of a seperate Unreal newsgroup. CHARTER: This newsgroup would be without any rules except the subject matter must relate to Unreal (and no binaries). JUSTIFICATION: A perusal of alt.games.quake2 will provide numerical evidence of the substantial interest in such a group (as a compromise on the Q2 newsgroup, all posts about Unreal are required to have "unreal" be the first word in the subject line, so readers who are uninterested can avoid them -- but it makes it easier to see how many there are) -- and note tht all of this is for a game in release for just a few days (and stores have been unable to keep the game in stock...).
